Zoe already had a key ready in her hand. The previous night she had sneaked into his office to steal the design. Kevin got the duplicate key made by a locksmith from Cantanova.
She opened the lock, and with a long drag of air, she pushed the door open. All she could see was pitch black as there was not a single candle burning to lit up the room.
She turned to take the lamp that was hanging on the wall behind her. As soon as she took her first step inside that dark room, a chill ran down her spine. A gust of cold, intense grief smacked her hard that for a second she thought she was about to lose her balance.
She was apprehensive about taking another step into that room, but she had to do what she was told to do. She further entered the room before closing the door behind her.
