Two days had passed and yet, Lester had not received any news from Edwin. He asked about Edwin to Ida, but she said Edwin had not mentioned his name after their fight and was busy with work. Lester wanted to speak to Ruth because he knew that only she could understand him and try to mend things between him and Edwin.
But Ida informed him that Edwin had warned Elsie and Ruth that they couldn't meet him. Lester sighed dejectedly again as he paced in his room. The only people who defied Edwin's unpleasantness and met him were Eloise and Zoe. But there was little they could do in the case of Edwin.
Lester was getting frustrated sitting in his room. He saw how everyone was busy with numerous tasks. Edwin had everyone always on their feet and their minds on work. Lester didn't come to Vincardine to sit in his room and spend his days leisurely.
