Ruth couldn't figure out how she should find the pieces of evidence against Fannie. Ruth couldn't tolerate that she helped the enemies to get into Vincardine and helped them gather sensitive information about the town and its people.
How could she be so stupid?
Should Ruth approach her directly, or should she first look for the clues?

Not wasting another minute, Ruth left her chamber to find Thea.
"Are you serious, Ruth? Why do you want to meet Harold Davies?" Thea looked at her friend as if she had grown two heads.
"Because, it is important for me, Thea."

"He shouldn't get a whiff of it." Ruth warned.
Thea was in a dilemma as she didn't want to betray Edwin, but she also didn't want to say no to her friend. After all, apart from Rees, Thea had no other reason than Ruth to get involved in everything. She had to stay true to their friendship.
