Ruth sat in the bed, resting her back on the pile of pillows.
"Open your mouth." Edwin said, and she obliged. He helped her with the medicines and water.
Ruth noticed how he avoided meeting her eyes.
"You should rest now." He said distractedly and began getting up.
But stopped when she held his hand. "Can't you just sit with me for a while?"
Her voice made something in his chest, created something that he was not aware of recently. Edwin silently sat again on the bed, staring at the floor with a small frown on his face.
Ruth picked up his hand and kissed it tenderly. "You don't need to feel guilty about it or anything at that matter."
Edwin slowly met her eyes, searching if she was serious.
"Edwin, I agree that you should have told me about it before, but I understand why you didn't. I should have figured out when you promised you will bring justice. Even that day in the woods on the day of Mr Payne's funeral, you knew who killed him.
