The carriage was running at its speed. After talking for hours in the beginning, and then listening to Henry's folk songs which Ruth genuinely loved, she decided to revise the notes she had taken during her sessions with Miss Chang.
She asked Ida queries now and then. The loyal maid explained them patiently and in great detail. Although the surrounding silence was overpowered by the movement of the carriage, and the rough road did not help much with the concentration, Ruth managed to revise a few concepts.
At least she did not waste time, instead of utilising it well.
Ruth looked up to see Ida closing the shutters of the windows on both sides of her.
"Ida why are you closing them? Keep them open." Ruth told, flipping the page to jump on the new one.
"No, Luna. This area... it is not safe. And it is only wise to keep the shutters close and be alert."
