Ruth had her mouth full of the bread and eggs to reply immediately. She chewed on it in a hurry, which made her eyes moisten a bit.
"Ruth! Slow down young lady. Or you will choke on it. Drink some water." Mrs Payne chided her like a small kid, passing a glass of water towards her.
Ruth coughed but swallowed all the content in her mouth, then chugged down half of the glass.
