Chapter 4 - Pretty things hide scary things-4

We reached the dais in front of us. I was so completely lost and seeing the crazy court around me was not helping.

The flamboyant court members dressed in fancy padded garments so ridiculously formed I would have laughed at them in any other situation. They sat amongst a zoo of animals petting and feeding them tiny cakes. Birds of all colors flew between tables and an orangutan served drinks in a top hat and bow tie. I couldn't help but stare in astonishment at everything I was seeing. I was so distracted that I hadn't notice when we made it to the throne.

My companions sensing my state gently pushed me into a kneeling position. Taking my eyes away from the crowd I looked up at the King and felt my jaw drop to the floor.

The King was humongous in size.

At first glance, he was big and his thick arms and legs belated that he was a fat man. But upon further inspection it was clear that the king was covered in muscle. He wore fine silk cloths embroidered with flowers. His long, vividly red fell around his face shimmering beautifuly. His long beard was also braided and had two white streaks running through it.

I watched in amazement as his hand, large enough to wrap around my head gripped a tea cup delicately to take a sip.

Tearing my eyes away I tried to look at anything other than him and what I saw did not disappoint.

The king was not only surrounded by a royal zoo of animals but also a harem of woman all fashionable dressed to the nines. They were plump and each of them wore a smile on their face. These were happy woman in fact everyone in this man's court seemed to be happy and smiling.

"Har yere ssou," The man's voice rang out with a thick accent, filling the room.

I blinked a couple of times trying to figure out what the King said. Oh. Who are you.

I stumbled over a reply, "Elizabeth, Sir-Highne-Majesty."

"ES SOW Naby- Elizabeth SIRHYMAJESTY." The voice of the maid shouted right beside me, causing me to flinch. Her loud voice spread the false name to the rest of the room.

Murmurs filled the room, along with some groans at the length of it.

"No," I said exaggeratedly shaking my head," My name is Elizabeth." I pointed at myself hoping not to bet stuck with such a ridiculous name.

Just then another figure burst in the room wearing the most ridiculous hat I had ever seen. He quickly spoke in a hurried form of their language. Then he translated it.

"I came as soon as I heard," The man said in perfect English causing me to almost collapse with relief. He continued to speak in the crowd's language then looked at me said: "I've come to bring you to a place where we can sort all of this out."

He appeared to translate this message to the crowed who booed and jeered at the news. They seem to want to keep me here even though I am covered in blood. The King also wore a disappointed frown on his face and was just about to dismiss the man when another small voice said something beside him. Searching the king's entourage, I saw that the voice came from one of the woman around him but this one was different from the others. She sat in a small chair, similar in design to the king's, and wore a simple circlet around her head. Was this the queen? Or a princess?

Whatever she was, she was campaigning for me to go with this man. As happy as the court seemed to be I had to admit I wanted to get away from it, and far away as possible from that room I had woken up in.

The king nodded then smiled at the girl, relenting his position. He motioned for a servant to bring something on a silver plate to me. A medallion. Then motioned for us to leave. Standing up from my kneeling position on the ground I looked at the girl beside the king who smiled sweetly.

I excepted the medallion from the servant then turned around to follow the crazy-hat man out the door. Hoping that this would mean the end of all the death and destruction that had greeted me as I entered this world.

"WAITTTTT," came a screech from the crowd of courtiers. All the chattering that had begun as I stood to leave suddenly stopped. The silence was so complete and filled with fear that nothing escaped it.

Everyone else already knew the source, no one save myself searched the room for the voice that had stopped me.
