Back in the mainland, Qu wren cruised through the streets energetically. Each step he took, the veil gently wavered, creating small rippled in the muslin cloth.
The slit in the front sometimes revealed a fair chin and lips.
The passerby's always paused to take another look at him. All mesmerised by his other worldly beauty.
But what they did not know was the beauty they were admiring was a full-fledged man.
Wren, not knowing any of this, happily walked around. He passed through the familiar pathway Han su had shown him last time they came here.
Feng Mian peaked out from his shirt. 'He is going directly into the authority's office. Good work, don't stop anywhere.' He urged him by kicking his chest slightly.
Wren gently caressed him through his shirt. "Patience little one, I will get you some food later."
The passerby saw the young girl caressing her boobs and blushed red.
Feng Mian saw this through the veil. 'What's wrong with these people. Why are they looking at him like that?' he so much wanted to squeak out loud. But considering his weakened situation, he remained hidden.
Wren did not bother with the gazes he slowly walked to the familiar white house. This was where the town's magistrate stayed, and this was the place where he could get help.
He hesitantly stood out there.
A young man walked out to him. "Do you need any help, young lady?"
"umm..... my friend.. I lost him.." he mumbled anxiously.
"Don't worry, please come in and give an official complaint. We will work on it," the man smiled gently.
Wren happily followed behind him.
"My name is Lou Qui. Here, please fill this out. We will get to the investigation in a day."
He handed a small paper and brush to him.
There were basic questions on Hachin. Wren tried writing on it, but his hand did not listen to him. His wrist trembled every time he wrote a word. In the end, the whole paper was filled with huge droplets of ink.
'I guess writing on land and writing under water is different...' he placed the brush down.
"sir... I don't know to write..." wren handed the paper back to him.
Of course, he was not illiterate. He was well knowledgeable of thirteen languages, but only in speech. When it comes to writing, he did not have the expertise or practice.
He twisted his wrist around a bit.
"It's okay; I will fill it up for you, young lady. Can you describe your friend?" Lou Qui whispered.
"Sir, I am not a young lady I am a man," Qu wren removed his veil. The hair that he had rolled up on top of his head in a bun rolled down, cascading down to his waist.
The young man looked stunned for a second. "I-I... I'm sorry about that sir."
"It's okay," wren smiled at him. "Can I start describing him now?"
"Ye—yes yes.. Please do," the man swiftly took down notes on Hachin's appearance. "You say he has white hair?"
"Yes, he....does..." wren bit his lips.
'if I don't give him a proper reason, they might find out about Hachin's identity as a beast...'
He glanced up at him with glistening eyes. "He has a congenital deformity that strips the colour of his hair."
"ohhhh okay..." Lou Qui mumbled, noting this down as well. "Where was the last place you saw him?"
"Near the shore... there was a huge cliff next to it." wren excitedly explained the location to him.
"I remember there was a town nearby that was outrun by bandits. Maybe your friend might have been kidnapped,"
"Ki—kidnapped?!!!! But why would they kidnap him. He has no valuables..."
"sir.. is your friend beautiful?" Lou Qui mumbled with a guilty smile.
"Yes, he is. He is the prettiest of all our generation," wren said, clenching his pants.
"That might be why," Lou Qui sat opposite him and gently patted his shoulders. "Don't worry, I will find him soon and bring him back to you,"
Suddenly, there was a sharp pain on his wrist. "Ow!!" he glanced down to see a little pink bird biting into his skin. He tried shaking it off but wren caught his wrist.
"Don't, you will hurt him," Qu wren gently caressed the bird's head. The little bird let go of him and obediently climbed over his open palm.
"Wow, your bird is fierce," Lou Qui mumbled, covering the spot he was bitten. As a foundation level cultivator, his body was already fortified like a rock. 'Then how did this bird hurt me so easily.....'
He glanced at it weirdly.
"Is the investigation over? Shall I go now?" he wore his veil hat on his head.
"Yes you can sir," Lou Qui bowed and sent him off.
Qu wren glanced at the sky with a wide smile on his face. After a long time he ash got a lead on Hachin's locations. "I've got it, little bird. Hachin is so nearby yet I did not even realise it. I will definitely find him!"
Feng Mian chirped lowly. 'Fine, fine, go find your lover.... I don't care...' he snuggled into the moss bed.
'Town run by bandits, huh? I need to gather Intel and check it out,' wren thought to himself.
But before that....
His stomach growled loudly. ' I need to feed my baby,'
He walked over to a nearby shop. A few men were enjoying their lunch, chatting with themselves. As soon as he walked closer, everyone glanced his way.
Wren bowed to them and took an empty seat.
A waiter ran to him with a soft blush. "w-what might I get you? We have fresh noodle soup. It's our shop's speciality,"
He removed his veil and placed it on the table. "Can I have two bowls please," he whispered with a smile but the young servant stood there with his mouth wide open. "sir?"
"umm yes... I'll bring it your way," he scratched his head and walked into the open kitchen.
The other patrons chuckled to themselves.
"What wrong?" he glanced at them questionably.
"the poor lad thought you were a woman," a old man on the next table mumbled.
"oh why is that? I think I have manly features." wren touched his sharp chin.
"It's that what is misleading," the old man pointed to his shirt.
"This?" wren took out the moss bed. "This is the bird I picked up. He is still a baby, so I am keeping him close to help warm him up,"
"ohhhh... no wonder, but you would have made a beautiful woman.." the old man chuckled.
Wren smiled kindly.
"Come here, have a cup of tea with us," a bunch of kind old man called him to their table.
'Okay this is my chance to ask about that bandit village,' he thought and agreed readily.
"Where are you from young lad?" an old man handed him a cup of tea with trembling hands.
"I am from the other side of the shores. I came here to see the Mer's island,"
The old men glanced at each other. "Sorry to say this to young lad but that island is long gone. That wretched roc had chased away those beautiful creatures,"
"Really? That's sad. Either way, I plan to pass through those shores."
"Beware, there is a bandit town." One old man mumbled.
Wren's hand tightened on the cup. "Is that so?.."
The other old man nudged him. "That town is in ruins,"
He froze. "Why is that?"
"It was destroyed by a mysterious being.... we presume it was the heavenly phoenix himself. At last, after so long, he has descended in our village and helped us get rid of that danger,"
The old men started to chatter amongst themselves.
Wren silently bit his lips. 'There is still a chance that the bandits might be in the surrounding area. I just have to check.'
