Silence prevailed throughout the travel. Feng Mian poked his bald head out and peered at him. "Chirp,"
That could be directly translated as,
'You still don't have to be angry about that! That spirit root was for me anyway, stop acting so immature,'
Qu Wren pouted and plugged the bird inside. "Bad bird, I just wanted to repay my saviour, but you ate it all,"
'B—bad? How am I bad? I really deserve this for helping you.' Feng Mian pecked at his chest and continued kicking him.
Wren gently pulled the moss next out of his shirt and slightly glared at him. "Are all babies so.... hard to handle? What will happen when I have a baby? Will the child also be so naughty? Will I even be able to handle a child?!"
He froze in shock.
The thought of having a kid was very cute and all but.... he had no experience taking care of one. Because he was the youngest of his family, his brothers and mother never, let him do anything difficult. Even lifting heavy weight was his brother Diago's responsibility, so the thought of having a child, really....
Scared him a lot!!!!
"I don't think I can handle this responsibility....." he mumbled, pouting at the little birdie.
"Chirp?" Feng Mian confusedly watched as the man's expression went from shock to horror to remorse. 'What the hell is this guy even thinking, huh? He really looks idiotic...'
Wren sighed loudly. "Anyway, thinks have happened, and it has progressed far. I can't change my fate now." he placed the moss nest inside his shirt and continued his journey.
In a day's time, they reached a small settlement.
Standing in the corner of the forest, he peered at the human going in and out the gates of the small settlement they call 'town'
His heart pounded loudly in nervousness.
"Phew, I can do this. I can definitely find Hachin there. I'm sure of it." he stretched a little and walked out.
Feng Mian peaked out and squeaked loudly.
Wren paused. "What is it? Are you hungry again? Don't worry, I can find you something else to eat in that town."
'No, no, you can't just go in there looking like that.' Feng Mian jumped out and pecked onto his hands.
Wren just tilted his head and peered at him. "I think you are just hungry.."
'Goodness.' Feng Mian climbed down and started to pull at his pants.
Wren worriedly looked at him. The bird was trying to pull him back into the forest. "Don't worry, it won't be that dangerous." he leaned down and gently caressed its bald pink head.
Feng Mian swiftly bit his hair and swung on it. "Chirp!!!"
'Your hair!!! You bastard. No human has pink hair!!!!!' he pulled at the hair strands, trying to convey his thoughts.
"Ow, that is not something to play with." he plucked it off but the bird clung onto him tightly. It kept tugging on it until a few strands fell off.
Wren sighed and sat down. "Come here. I'll give you a worm." he pulled out a grub from the small parcel inside his bag.
Feng Mian just rolled his eyes. "Chirp.."
Wren was even more confused. He could not get the bird off of him, so he just let it cling there and started to walk forward.
Suddenly a human looked his way and stumbled back.
"Are you okay?"
"A m—monster....!!!" the man closed his eyes in fear. "Don't eat me! Please don't. I have children. I have two kids and I'm monster loving. Please!"
Wren just squatted in front of him with a pout. "Why would I eat you, human meat is not tasty?"
The human slowly opened his eyes. "You won't.... eat me?"
"No, I just wanted to ask you what those humans are doing." Wren pointed to gate.
The people who entered secretly gave something to the two guards standing next to it.
"What is it? Are they giving them food? I never knew of such traditions."
"No, copper. They are giving them copper. To enter this town, you have to pay two coppers," he mumbled with a little but confidence now. "S—sir, might I ask you why you are trying to enter our town?"
"oh I am searching for someone." Wren smiled at him kindly.
The human blushed slightly. "Then... you can get help from the authorities."
"Authorities? Are they like guardian warriors?" Wren helped the man up and helped him dust the sand off his clothes.
The human awkwardly smiled at him. "The authorities are the one who uphold justice. If your friend is lost they will help you find him."
"That sounds great!!"
Feng Mian squeaked loudly. 'You believed that!!! Oh my god!! Did you lose your brain when you swam up, you stupid oyster!! That man is sending you to a death trap!! It's a trap!!'
"But sir... can I suggest something..."
"Yes?"
"You.... if you enter the town looking like that, you will be persecuted instantly," he whispered peering at his wardrobe.
Wren glanced down. He was wearing a normal white shirt and a pant. It was slightly translucent, but it worked fine because he lost his coat back in the Mer Island. "Is my clothing improper?"
"Yes and so... is your hair," he pointed to his black hair and then at his pink hair.
"Is my hair not acceptable?" Wren carefully glanced at his tangled up hair. 'Maybe it is so tangled, so only....' he started untangling his hair with his fingers.
"Humans don't have pink hair," the human whispered.
"Oh.. OHHHHH," Wren mouth opened wide. In fact, his father's diary did mention something like that, but he did not even put that much thought into it. "So I should hide it somehow right?"
"Yeah..."
"Wait here. I'll come back in a second." Wren handed him the little moss nest and the little bird to him.
The human awkwardly held the little bird, which was glaring at him intently.
"Hi... are you a good monster as well?"
'Good monster, my ass. I am a bad monster. Bad one, okay, so don't you dare try to hurt him. If you do, you will feel my wrath,'
