Xiao Yujin was furious. "Jueming, how could you leave behind a dagger bearing my crest at the cliff? How could you make such a low-level mistake?!"
Jueming knelt in the center of the room, head bowed and fist clasped in front of him. "Your Highness, I swear on my life that nothing was left behind. I don't know where that dagger came from, but it cannot be from the cliff. I had the area thoroughly cleaned. No bodies, no ripped clothing, and definitely no weapons were left behind."
"Then how did that Xiao Moxian have the dagger? Did he come in here when I was out and steal one?" Xiao Yujin's chest rose and fell heavily. "I cannot believe he survived. I thought you said he and that girl died when they fell off the cliff!"
"I didn't know there was a river at the bottom of the cliff to break their fall. I assumed a fall from that height would kill them."
