"We want your life!" One of the assassins answered gruffly.
Wang Jingyuan snickered. "Lots of people want my life, apparently. What did I ever do to you?"
"Brothers, she is trying to stall. Do not waste anymore time; let's end this quickly!" barked another assassin.
"Wait!" Wang Jingyuan shouted. "If you want to live, you all better run away right now. You saw my flare go off. Reinforcements will be here soon. There are too few of you to fight against the entire militia."
"It will take the militia at least an hour to arrive. Stop lying." The assassins did not buy her story.
"Not if they were already waiting nearby." Wang Jingyuan lied through her teeth. "Why did you think there were only ten militiamen accompanying us? Because we knew you all would make another move, so rather than hunt you down, we let you come to us. And you did."
