Chapter 5 - Chapter 05

Calvino immediately cancelled the meeting after he received the news that Calista had been admitted to the hospital. He then drove the car at such high speed that he no longer cared for his own safety.

--

"How's Calista, mom?

"Still under the doctor's treatment."

Calvino couldn't calm down at all. He kept walking back and forth while propping his chin. After the door opened, he immediately ran to the doctor, asking about his twin sister's condition.

The doctor immediately explained that Calista had to get a lot of rest and be kept away from things that could stress her because her pregnancy was very weak.

'Pregnancy? So my daughter is pregnant?' Dreena whispered. She was startled to find Calista was pregnant, unlike Bramantara and Calvino, who knew this earlier.

"Can we come in?" Calvino asked impatiently.

"The patient still needs to rest. Only one person can enter the room."

"Mom, you can come in. But remember, don't ask her anything." Calvin gave advice.

As a mother, Dreena must have understood that something terrible had happened to her beloved daughter considering Bramantara and Calvino's unusual attitude.

Dreena immediately cast a questioning gaze at Bramantara, showering her husband with piercing glares, demanding an immediate explanation.

There was no other choice. Bramantara finally explained the actual incident. Everything was as he expected because Dreena's body shortly swayed after hearing his explanation.

Not wanting anything wrong to happen to his mother, Calvino asked his father to calm his mother. At the same time, he entered Calista's treatment room.

Lenata, who was also there, immediately approached then hugged Dreena tightly.

"Auntie must be strong for Calista. Lenata encouraged Dreena.

"Do you also know about this incident?" Said Dreena with her lips quivering at the sound of sobs.

Lenata reluctantly nodded.

After being treated for two days, the hospital finally allowed Calista to go home. At first, everything went fine until finally Jozh came and shook Calista's emotions.

Because of the great fight, Calista sprained her leg and fell down the stairs. She was directly rushed to the hospital again.

Throughout the road, she screamed in pain incessantly because of the contractions in her womb.

Calvino, who was abroad at that time, immediately arranged a flight to Indonesia.

Arriving at the hospital, Calvino straightly ran through the corridor to Calista's treatment room and approached his mother, who was sitting in a long chair accompanied by his father.

"What happened, mom? How did Calista fall down the stairs?" Calvino wondered in disbelief.

Dreena was unable to speak. She then burst into tears in her son's arms.

Calvino's sturdy fingers reached out to caress his mother's back lovingly. His gaze locked on his father, demanding an immediate answer.

Seeing the operating room door open, Calvino quickly ran over. He then showered the doctor with a thousand questions.

Instead of getting an explanation, Calvino was asked to see the doctor in his room directly. One thing lodged in Calvino's mind right now was that something terrible must have happened to Calista.

"Everything that happened was God's will. We, the entire team, are very sorry for not being able to save Ms Calista's baby."

Hearing the doctor's explanation, Calvino felt like being struck by lightning in broad daylight. His handsome face was instantly filled with mounting anger.

Bramantara and Dreena were confused with Calvino's current behaviour, but they remained silent because they didn't want to see Calista shaken.

Calvino then gently patted his father's shoulder meaningfully then walked over to Calista, sending a passionate kiss on her twin sister's forehead.

"How's my baby? What did the doctor say?" Calista asked anxiously.

Calvino just smiled.

"Don't think about anything else. Just focus on your healing!" Instead of answering Calista's question, Calvino gave advice.

"But..."

"Enough, Calista."

"But I have to make sure that my womb is okay."

"Calista, please. Focus on your health first. Don't think about anything else."

"I know there must be something you're hiding, right?" Calista wondered.

Unable to continue to be pressed by Calista, Calvino reasoned that he had to return to the office.

"I'll take my leave now to the office, dad, mom." He then locked Calista's gaze.

"Don't overthink about it. I will come back later." Said Calvino before opening the door handle.

Bramantara immediately followed Calvino because he realised that there must be something his son was hiding.

"Calvin, wait!" Calvino immediately turned his head.

Bramantara shortly dragged Calvino away from there, showering his son with various questions.

Calvino could no longer dodge. Everything was as he expected because his father was shaken upon hearing the news.

"Your sister should know this." Said Bramantara.

"Dad, don't tell Calista now. I'm sure her mentality won't be strong enough to accept this fact." Said Calvino convincingly.

"But Vin, we can't hide this fact from your sister forever."

"It's up to you, dad."

After that, Calvino walked straight to the office. Not because he didn't care, but he couldn't see the destruction of his beloved sister.

Angry, that was how Calvino felt right now.

Days full of tears made Calvino Luz Kafeel's patience erode. He couldn't hold back seeing his sister were broken. He wanted to destroy Jozh right now.

Dreena and also Bramantara tried to convince their beloved son not to act rashly many times.

One month has passed, but Calista could never get rid of the trauma from this terrible incident.

Of course, the loss of her baby really shook her mentally, so she was often alone and always avoided talking to her family.

This morning, Calvino planned to take Calista to the office to erase her beloved sister' sadness.

"You have to come to the office, Calista."

"What for?"

"It would be better if you could help me finish my work at the office. Mom and dad are in Dubai on business, and I'm not at peace if I have to leave you alone at home." Calvino explained.

"I'm not in the mood to go anywhere. I'm not alone, though. There's Minah."

"It's okay... Don't make excuses too much, change your clothes quickly." Calvino replied while pushing Calista's shoulder into the room.

"But..."

"I don't accept rejection, dear!" Calvino exclaimed while pushing Calista in.

"Don't take too long!" Calvino exclaimed from outside.

While waiting for Calista to get ready, Calvino played on his phone while sending a message to Lenata. Their relationship has grown closer since Lenata arrived at the house.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Calvino instantly turned his head. His lips curved into a satisfied smile to find that his beloved sister was willing to repaint her face with make-up, although it couldn't entirely hide her face from sadness.

"Well, that's my sister. Where's your smile?" Said Calvino while pinching Calista's cheek.

"Promise me you will always smile. No more tears. You deserve to be happy, dear." Calvino then gently stroked the top of his sister's head and then guided her to his favourite car.
