Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

Unbeknownst to him, his woman was injured.

--

Calvino's anger had thrown Lenata into deep sorrow.

'I don't know anything. I'm also not a member of this family but, you shouldn't hurt me like this, Vin. Lenata thought while wiping her tears roughly.

"Hey, what's wrong? Beb, why are you crying? Where's Calvin?" Calista asked.

"He left. He said he had something to take care of." Lenata replied.

"Then, why are you crying? You're not fighting with my brother, are you?" Calista asked her again, confused.

"Nope."

"Then?"

"Mom just called and said that she missed me so much. Beb, I have to go back to Bandung."

"When?"

"Now."

Calista gasped.

"How about tomorrow morning?"

"I'm sorry, babe. I already bought a ticket." Lenata lied.

"That fast?" Calista's gaze pierced into Lenata's beautiful face looking for the truth, and what she found was a lie.

Her soft lips carved a sinister smile.

"I know you're lying, Len."

"Em, I'm not lying. If you don't believe me, you can see..."

"No need." Calista interrupted.

"Shouldn't you wait for Calvin to come home to take you to the airport?" Calista suggested.

"No need. I can take a taxi."

"Take care, Belen."

Lenata nodded and hugged Calista before leaving the apartment.

The night was getting late, but Calvino hadn't yet arrived at the apartment. His phone couldn't be reached either.

'Where are you, Calvin? Why is your phone inactive?' Calista began to worry.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Calvino was at the club. He needed an outlet to vent his anger, and he chose this club accompanied by a few bottles of drinks. There were no women because he didn't like them.

In a drunken state, he was still thinking hard about separating Calista from Leonard without hurting his beloved sister's heart. He didn't want her to be destroyed a second time.

He drank the drink repeatedly until the fifth bottle. He could still control himself in a drunken state, unlike Leonard, who immediately fell into the valley of disobedience.

He glanced at the watch on his wrist which was already pointing to the number four in the morning. Even though he was drunk, he could still drive the car to the apartment.

Calista immediately ran out when she faintly heard footsteps approaching the bedroom door. She was shocked to find her beloved brother staggered. She couldn't understand her brother's behaviour, who chose to get drunk like this.

'You must have fought with Lenata,' Calista thought.

Still, one thing that made Calista stunned was in a state of unconsciousness, her brother kept on gibberish calling her name.

'Why do you keep saying my name? Did I trigger your fight with Lenata? Yes, I must be the cause. That's why Lenata immediately decided to return to Bandung.' Calista thought as she continued to stare at Calvino's body lying on the bed.

She wanted to contact Lenata. However, it wasn't the right time to contact her since it was four in the morning. She didn't want to disturb her future sister-in-law's sleep.

Finally, she decided to contact Lenata the following day.

She immediately strolled into her room, not wanting to disturb his brother's sleep. She looked at the phone lying on the nightstand. There was an incoming message from Leonard.

Baby, dream of me.

Hug and kiss you.

Miss you more, baby.

Calista's soft lips formed an amused smile reading Leonard's message. As well as her beloved man, she also misses him very much.

"Hello, baby. Why are you calling me? Sorry, did you wake up because of my message?" Leonard picked up the call.

"It's already morning. Why haven't you slept yet?" Calista asked.

"I can't sleep, baby. Sorry to wake you." Leonard replied.

"Um, no. I'm still awake before you texted."

"Why? You didn't sleep well? Are you sick again?"

"Nope. I was thirsty, so I got up." Calista lied.

"Why can't you sleep, hum?" Calista asked.

"Missing you," Leonard replied.

"I miss you too."

"I want to meet you, baby."

"Be patient."

They talked for a long time before realising that the clock on the wall was already six in the morning. Leonard immediately ended the conversation because he had to get ready to go to the office.

Calista walked into her brother's room. He lifted the window curtain and after that, her gaze fixed on Calvino's handsome face, which looked peaceful when he was sleeping.

After observing his brother's face for a long time, she immediately walked out of the room.

The light coming through the window blinds forced Calvino to open his eyes. As soon as he squirmed, the first thing he felt was his head spinning. Maybe it was the effect of last night's hangover.

'Did Calista and Lenata know that I was drunk last night?' Thought Calvin.

Not wanting to be filled with curiosity, he immediately dashed into the bathroom. He then looked for the whereabouts of the two women he loved so much.

Various questions came to him when the one he was looking for wasn't there.

"Where are they? No one is in the living room or the pavilion. Is it possible in Calista's workroom?' Calvino thought as he stepped into the room.

However, his hopes were dashed because what he was looking for was also not there. He then strolled into the park but, again, no one was there.

'Where did Calis and Lenata go? It's still very early.' Calvino thought.

The smell from the kitchen forced Calvino to come closer. All he could see was Calista. He then asked where Lenata was.

"Good morning, sweetie." Calvino greeted Calista.

Calista turned around and smiled when she met her brother's eyes.

"Good morning, bro."

"Why are you alone? Where's Lenata?"

Calista immediately narrowed her eyes, hearing her brother's question.

'So you didn't know that Lenata was going to Bandung. Fix, it means they are fighting.' She whispered softly in her heart.

"Why are you daydreaming? Calis replied!"

"Lenata returns to Bandung."

Calvin gasped.

"Back to Bandung?"

Calista nodded after that back to focus on her cooking.

"Did Lenata say something?"

"No, Calvin. Lenata didn't say anything. She didn't tell you that she returned to Bandung?"

"I didn't bring my phone yesterday."

"I see. Try to contact her then. Oh yeah, what time are you going to Jakarta?"

"I'll be leaving soon, dear."

"Do you want to drink tea or coffee?"

"What are you making?"

"Tea."

"Yeah, that's it."

Calista immediately made breakfast into two plates, not forgetting the warm tea. She invited her brother to have breakfast first before leaving for the airport.

During the breakfast, no one spoke because that was their family tradition.

"I go first, sweetie. Take care of yourself, and don't come to the office until you are completely healthy." Calvino rubbed the top of Calista's head then kissed her forehead profoundly and long.

"Let me take you to the airport."

"No, sweetie. You just stay in the apartment. Rest!"

Before actually leaving the apartment, Calvino took his sister's body in his arms, kissing the top of her head again affectionately.

"Take care of yourself. Remember, take care of your health and don't force yourself. I don't want to hear that you're sick again, okay?"

"I'm not a child. There's no need to worry about me." Calista replied.

Calvino then pinched Calista's nose.

"To me, you're still my little girl."

"Not a girl but a woman." Calista denied while frowning in annoyance.

"Never purse your lips if you don't want me to pinch it."

"Ish," Calista was furious.

Calvino chuckled as he kissed the top of her head gently.

"I'm leaving, okay?"

"Hmm, be careful."
