While at the dining table, Oliver was seated on, the head of the family, chair at the start, with Ace on his left, and Kat to his right, while steven sat beside Ace, Rain was beside kat with Sophie on her side.
Kat was listening attentively to Oliver and Ace's chat, while Sophie and Rain were giggling about something. Steven had felt this much awkward and clueless only in his family dinner or launch meetings, his family was that strict type of family who would only talk about achievements and success of each other than feelings and day. And now he was feeling just that but differently, as growing up with strict family, Steven was aware of all the table manners but wasn't aware of how to talk to family members, without thinking more he started digging into food if he would fill his mouth with food, he won't have to say anything.
Rain looked at Steven, and saw him eating food like a starving person, and smiled, and heard Sophie whisper, "Does he live on the street?" Rain chuckled, and replied," Shh, don't say that, and you too start eating."
Dinner was at the end when Rain saw Steven was already done, and it was her chance, " I am done, Mrs… Mom" She smiled, Kat was surprised as well as happy, she further added, "Can I leave the table and go to my room?" Kat was so happy that she said yes.
Is she not going to see Steven, he is done too, should I ask them myself, Rain thought, she had many things to clear with him, she wanted him alone, and just as she was about to ask, Ace said, "Oh, are you done too?" and Steven nodded, to which Kat said' "Then you also go with Rain… Rain dear, would you show Steven our house?" and Rain happily agreed.
"I woof com to" Sophie called, with a mouth full of bacon.
"No dear, you will finish your plate slowly and then join them, okay?" Oliver stated.
"Buf I…" Sophie tried.
"Eat your food first," Kat patted Sophie on her back.
"Come after you are finished, Sow," Rain said and smiled at Steven and to Sophie's utter disappointment they both left.
Rain showed Steven their hall, then their back garden with flowers growing near the fence, then their storeroom, and after the lower level tour was done, they both went upstairs to the rooms. Steven saw everything and took notes of some broken fence in the backyard some loose doors, some tools, etc just like a sly fox without letting Rain noticed it. But Rain saw it all and stayed calm.
Rain began the upper tour with her room first as she had permission to show that room only and when Sophie will come she can show Steven her's. They went inside the room, Rain entering first and Steven followed.
The room was cozy looking with a bed on the left of the door and bathroom door on the right, a large old looking cupboard was beside the bed, and a bunch of stuff were on the ground beside the cupboard, Rain watched Steven scanning the room and saw the pile of things on the floor and blurted out, " It is just my third day here, so I didn't get any chance to tide it up."
"Third day?" Steven asked.
"Yup, It has been only three days since I am living here." She elaborated.
"Oh," He said turning and looking at her, "Where do you shift from?" The room was still scented with fresh paint and perfume, he always loved the scent of paint, and perfume was just more plus point, he was feeling warm in this room until he saw Rain locking the door from inside.
"As if you don't know!" She responded while taking a step forward towards him.
"Huh? What do you mean?" He scanned Rain's face and saw only calm anger inside her eyes.
"Oh am I this hard to understand?" another step towards him, "Let me make myself clear…" one more step, "Why. Are. You. Following. Us?" she said each word while taking one step closer to him.
He gulped, his back was touching the walls, birds chirped outside of the window that was beside him, he could now clearly see a small mole near her collarbone, and he was not any predator or anything but she was breathtakingly beautiful even in her rage, and he was stunned by her words. He was about 1 foot taller than her, she was looking like a little girl in front of him, in fact, she was just a little girl, which he usually forgets while looking at her.
"Anything?" she inquired snapping fingers in front of his face.
With a swift moment he took her left hand into his right and twisted it which made her turn back and then pulled her towards him, while putting one hand on her mouth, "It's better if you ask nicely because now I feel like I am being threatened.." he whispered letting his mouth near her and added, " and I don't like being threatened" with a quick push he released her hand and she stumbled forward and turned while rubbing her hand which was twisted.
"W...Who are y…You?
"Oh so now we are scared?" He took a step towards her and she stepped backward. " What do you thought, you are some kind of protagonist in some novel…" another step closer. " That you can threaten anyone." another step closer.
"I…If you do a…anything to m…me. They all w…will know." she stammered and he chuckled while taking two steps closer to her.
"Why backing up now?" one more step, "If. I. Wanted. To. Do. Anything. I Wouldn't. Wait. This. Long," He uttered while taking a step on every word. And now she was stuck with a wall behind and him being in front. With one hand on the wall, he leaned towards her and smirked, " I wouldn't have saved you if I wanted you dead." she was looking intensely in his deep green eyes, and he saw just how scared he made her and decided to put some space in between them.
Still leaning he opened the unlocked door that was beside her and moved back. "I might be someone who is saving you, did you think that way?." He said while turning around and walking towards the window.
"I am supposed to save you, we are not bad guys…"
"Why should I believe you?" she cut him and blurted.
"Well, firstly I saved you from drowning, secondly I let you threaten me while I have a gun and a knife with me…" He said while showing off his gun that was stuck in his jeans on his backside, "…And Thirdly, I can vanish as soon as I murder you and no one would ever find me but I am not doing that," He said and with slightly turning he vanished with only the sound of woosh behind him.
Rain was shocked at first when he showed her his gun but when he saw him just disappear in thin air she collapsed with a gasp on the ground and touched the ground with both hands in disbelief, while slowly looking at the spot he was standing she slides backward until her back is fully touching the wall, what the actual hell, he… he disappeared.
"...and fourthly…" Steven whispered while sitting beside Rain after coming from outside of the room and she gasped, " I don't kill innocent people or animals, little birdy.." And that was it and she shrieked loudly.
Downstairs, Kat was taking all the plates and dishes to the kitchen sink, while Ace helped her, laughing and talking about how nice all the food was. Oliver was inside the storage, fetching out the old typewriter for Ace, as he was an antique enthusiast and Sophie was dancing while on her way to Rain's room when everyone heard a loud thud as if something fell and Oliver called, "Did someone fall?" and Ace and Kat replied with "Nos" and Sophie with, "Nah"
In this confusion, they all heard Rain's shriek. Sophie was stunned for a second and then started running towards Rain's room in panic Oliver, Ace, and Kat following her.
They all saw Rain and Steven sitting on the floor and the door half-opened, while Kat called, "Rain?" Steven got up and let them in.
"What happened?" Oliver asked her stunned daughter while Kat and Sophie crouched beside her, but Ace looked directly at Steven and Steven shrugged while adding," She fell and twisted her leg, that why she shrieked in pain."
Oliver and Kat looked at him then at Rain and Rain nodded while looking at that green fierce eyes and Sophie murmured while looking at steven suspectingly, "But it felt more like yelling in fear."
Only Rain who was close to her and Steven who was looking intently at her heard it.
