Chereads / Meet Me In Time / Chapter 34 - Madam Flitch

Chapter 34 - Madam Flitch

Steven was sitting in the office of the head of the Gray Academy, madam flitch.

He had asked for water as soon as he saw madam flitch getting angry about him being in between the business of foster sisters and he thought it was a great idea as he got his time to think and put words properly in a story form to out forward.

Madam flitch was again reading some documents with a frown on her face while he sat looking around. After about 5 minutes a girl came with 2 glasses of water and offered it to him which he took and started drinking.

"So," madam flitch began.

Steven looked up at her as she was arranging the documents on her table while not looking at him, but he knew she was watching him through her peripheral vision.

"So… I wanted to ask some questions…" Steven started.

"About the inheritance of power theory, yeah. I know…" she remarked and looked at him while sitting back comfortably in her chair, "But, why is that what i want to know."

"Because I want to help them…" Steven uttered looking down. He was feeling like about to be scolded by his mother, the feeling was the same though she was not his mother.

"And why is that?"

She was looking at him and scanning him with her calculative eyes, he became nervous under her gaze.

"They are… they became my family in these few years…"

"You met them through a mission, am I right?" Madam flitch asked.

"Yes but…"

"You were strictly prohibited to get involved in their matters after your mission was complete?"

"Yes, and I…"

"So you didn't follow the orders?"

"We were supposed to tell them…"

"You were not supposed to get involved and come back to this world for them, your help was needed for 2 weeks and after that you were set free, though you came back." She raised her voice.

He stopped whatever he was saying and kept quiet.

"Don't tell me you are here to help them just because of that girl. Yes Ace told me about your kindness towards Rain Foster, and I am warning you. You Mr.Steven Reed can't do anything about them, they have their own paths and destiny to follow…"

"I am just trying to help them in their destiny…" he replied while cutting her in mid-sentence, "And I am kind towards her because she had been through a lot, you would have done the same… No don't shake your head, I know you would have, I have seen you doing maybe things out of order, I am going to be okay…" he explained.

"A shadow was following them, that means they were in grave danger, we don't know yet what her mom did, why was the shadow following her? Why were you guys sent back and replaced by another team? We are clueless. Their case came into higher priority rate that means the VVIP once. How please tell me… how are you going to be safe?" She stated heatedly.

Steven remembered when he was 14 just about Sophie's age, he went on a trip over the inhabitual area in the inhuman world or the virtuous/mythical world, as people in that world love to call it. Madam flitch had come to receive him after the trio ended and as soon as he was out of the bus, she ran towards him and hugged him. His mother never came but she did, he was happy that someone was here for him, but soon his happiness faded as madam flitch started scolding him for going on the trip.

He remembered how she was so concerned for his safety. It was said that madam flitch had a child, a boy once, and he died in an accident while in the human world for a tour. Everyone in his class while in aliferous academy thought that he was the only child of madam flitch.

He knew she was just concerned for his safety, but he also wanted her to understand this time that he was not a kid running off on some trip but an adult who can easily take his decisions.

"That is why I want to help them…" he started.

"Are you m…" she started complaining but he didn't let her.

"Mad… no I am not, they need help and I can help them so I will help them, I need information on somethings, tell me if you will help me or not? I am not a kid anymore, trust me on this, I am safe."

She looked at him for a minute and said, "What do you want to know about the theory?"

He beamed at her, "You will help me?" I knew it he thought, she wouldn't let him be in some danger alone and he chuckled.

"I can still change my mind, stop grinning and start speaking." Madam flitch snapped while he chuckled and quickly started speaking.

"I want to know if the two sisters could have powers from their mother? And also if the powers could not come forward even when you turn 17? And also about Her mother's past."

He wanted to know any and everything he could get, as to answer Sophie's many questions and clear Rain's doubts.

"Why about her mother?" She was confused. She thought, if he wants to know more about the mother then it means he wants to get involved deep into their family mess and she didn't want him to get that involved.

"Just because you spoke about the shadow." He grinned and she frowned. This guy, she thought.

"I don't know why I take your shit." She stated while dialling 3 numbers over the phone.

The girl who came with water, came back again, "You called ma'am."

"Yes, Take him to the cafeteria and come and help me after that." Madam flitch ordered her secretary and then turned to Steven, "Go and eat something, come back after you are done and you will have your information here."

He could see she was still angry but he stood up while grinning,"You are the best." Madam flitch couldn't help but smile, "Sho, sho," she gestured.

She was concerned about him, but also concerned about the information that he would get and what would trigger it, he would have to do something about it. She was not sure about the situation but as soon as He had come to the human world this year she had asked Ace about the fosters and started to investigate more about the family in which Steven was having so much interest.

He told her that Steven showed a keen interest in Rain foster, the oldest daughter of Fosters and now the oldest of Finns.

Steven started following madam flitch's secretary, he knew all these hallways and routes but still followed her while smiling to himself, and looking around.

While in the cafeteria he ate all his favourite dishes that were served and was full in about 10 minutes as he turned left after exiting the cafeteria he saw madam flitch's secretary coming towards him.

"Is she now keeping an eye on me?" He grinned and she smiled.

"I have been told to escort you back to the office."

"Did she also tell you to not become too friendly with me?" He grinned.

"No sir." She smiled and started walking forward.

He walked behind her, while thinking, she definitely told her to not become too friendly with me, and he chuckled.

Soon the office door came into view and his heart grew excited, what would the theory tell him? What would be the new surprise for him? He thought.

The secretary opened the door and motioned him to step inside, he followed her directions and grinned at her, she smiled and closed the door, he turned around.

"Done flirting?" Madam flitch questioned while sitting on the sofa.

He grinned again, "yes ma'am," she shook her head and pointed at the documents on the tea table in front of the sofa," You wanted these?"

He eagerly went towards her and sat on the sofa. He bent forward to grab the nearest document when madam flitch snatched it herself, "First promise me you won't ever stay in the human world for too long just because of some girl."

He frowned, "what… why wou…"

"Don't complain, just promise me this if you think you won't ever do it."

He laughed, "You know me, I won't ever do it…" she still clutched the documents near her heart while looking at him and narrowing her eyes, "Okay, I promise. Fine?"

"Better." She smiled and gave the documents to him.

"Seriously woman, what do you take me as." He smiled and started to open the file labeled The inheritance theory notes.

Madam flitch knew she had done the right thing by asking him for this promise as it will now make him come back home where he belongs and not take any unimaginable decisions.

She was happy that he agreed, she wanted her to be happy but the human world doesn't serve happiness to the inhuman she knew it better too.
