Chapter 137 - My heart hurts?

Yana could no longer delay things. She has tried to spy on the society club again but the security tightened by a lot. Yana knew that they were expecting her, so Yana didn't follow this lead anymore.

Mr Rosaneli also seemed to have disappeared, so Yana could only count on Mik to do his move and prepare for it.

Mik finding out where Yana lived wasn't only to threaten and intimidate her, it also wasn't letting her know about the news, after all, sooner or later, she would anyway. His purpose was something different. It was almost as if he wanted to scout ahead.

Yana readied her stuff. In any case, she had to be prepared. The only headaching problem was that Yana didn't know when Mik would come. It must be sometime soon.

The most important thing she needed was her phone, a pocket knife and another knife. Her nails, she needed to get them done too, a special way. Pointy, sharp and with a sturdy material, easy to cut through simple things yet subtle enough not to notice.

Yana thought about other things she needed and then took a day off to get them immediately done. The sooner the better. Time was ticking away, however, Yana wasn't anxious. She had prepared herself for the worst-case scenario, whatever may come, unexpected and impossible, Yana would leave it to her future self.

She trusted herself enough to make the right decision at that point. As Yana expected in the evening Luka came over again, eager to cook dinner.

"You came again?"

"Yes!"

Luka was tremendously happy that their relationship progressed so much but the worry was also eating him alive. He wanted to be honest with her and tell Yana the truth about him being a CEO in name only but-

For some reason, Luka couldn't bring himself too. Why? Was he afraid Yana would dislike him if he wasn't in a high position anymore?

No, Luka knew better that Yana liking him or not had nothing to do with it. So then why? Maybe because Luka couldn't come to terms with it. It was like a disgrace and huge step backwards for him.

Away from this goal. He was once again powerless and if he didn't soon change it, his parents would find out and he was nothing more than a puppet.

Luka was afraid of such a life and future and he was afraid of not being able to protect Yana. Seeing her confidently heading into danger and seemingly knowing about things she shouldn't like the weapon production, Mik and maybe even the secret behind the companies, made Luka anxious.

If he told her, wouldn't he admit his own weakness? But wasn't it better to be honest and communicate with each other properly?

Yana had the misconception that Luka was also one of the bad guys but Luka could easily clarify it if he told her the truth.

The bad guys, Luka didn't know who they were but Luka had the hunch that these were highly influential people who pulled all the strings from behind and Yolinda definitely was one of them.

"Luka, you're letting the sauce burn," suddenly Yana's light voice carried to Luka and untied the knot that tightly formed around his heart.

"Ah," Luka quickly turned off the heat and then looked at Yana. Each time he saw her, he couldn't help but want to give her everything.

His gaze turned tender and Luka himself could've never guessed that one day he would be such a fool in love for someone. What did he love about Yana?

Luka couldn't explain but before he knew, one day, even the slightest gesture, could cause an explosion of feelings. Beautiful, magical yet always painful.

Yearning for someone yet not being able to satisfy one's craving even when the person was right in front of them.

Feeling as if they had the whole world if the person just was in their presence. A simple smile could melt the most bitter pain. One touch could evaporate burning heat into pleasure and one word could lift the heaviest heart.

Everything about Yana, Luka liked. From her little habits to her flaws, to the way she lived, acted and danced in his mind. It was just everything. One day, back in uni, Luka looked at Yana and thought this was the person. No one but her. In this whole world, he didn't want to marry anyone but her.

This feeling came suddenly and he thought it would go but it stubbornly forced its way into his heart to stay and grow stronger and stronger.

"What are you thinking about?" Yana felt Luka's stare and uncomfortable asked.

"I was thinking about how beautiful you are."

Yana grimaced, "Let's eat," while she brought everything to the table.

The Yana now and the Yana from back then were different. The careless, chattery and cheerful girl disappeared, Yana was no longer the slightly naïve person but to Luka she was still the same. Only that she put up her guards now very high. Luka sat next to her and grimly thought, back then he should've used a tank to completely mow down any possibilities of any walls forming.

But back then, Luka was foolish and didn't know what he had until he lost it.

"Stop staring at me and eat."

"What do you think? My cooking skills? I can cook for you every day," a cheeky smile spread on Luka's face.

"Don't you already do that?"

"Well, I mean breakfast, lunch, dinner included."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yana," since Luka knew he couldn't win, he tried to whine and act cute. Luka just had the feeling that Yana would give in, even though she always gave him a disgusted look. Luka's charms must work now on her.

"No."

But this time they didn't.

"Why?" Luka wanted to cry injustice. It was painful if Yana was turning cold towards him again.

"For the time being, don't come anymore."

Luka put his cutlery down and his heart stung, "Why?''

"Because."

"Is there someone else who'll come?"

"If I say yes, will you stop coming?"

There was more than one sting in his heart but Luka tried to ignore it and said, "Don't lie. I'm the only one for you."

He forced a smile and pretended to be nonchalant.

Yana's eyes gazed into his before she said, "No one's coming, but I need to go somewhere, so I won't be home. Please understand."

Luka's eyes widened. Was… was Yana trying to console him?

All the pain instantly disappeared, "Ok, until when?"

"You really think this your home, huh?"

"Wherever you are, is my home."

"Just stop already with your cheesy and corny lines."

"I can be even more."

"No."

"Come on, I know you-"

"No."

Luka sighed. He really couldn't win against her.
