The wall was connected to a small building on the right. Yana jumped from the wall onto the roof and rushed to the front.
This building on the other hand was directly connected to the club building. The club building had two halves. One was like a tower and had three floors while the other half only had two floors. Yana walked on the roof of the second-floor building all the way to the tower where the window was.
The window was faced to the front while Yana sat left of it. She could see into half of the window. The window was located at a high point in the room. When Yana looked through the window, she could see down into the tall room.
There were 10 armchairs all in a circle and between each chair was a small round table with wine bottles and snacks. The lighting was dim giving off classy and cosy feelings. The whole room was brown. It had a dark brown wooden floor and walls. At the back of the room opposite the other door, down the window, was a large bookshelf.
The arms chairs were closer to the door. Yana sat back on the roof and focused on the noises that came through the earpiece. The people who spoke were mostly greeting each other. Yana already knew all the members. She had seen Mr Roasaneli before but didn't know he was called 'Rosaneli'. Yana knew their faces but didn't bother to remember their names because it wasn't important.
However, Yana only knew 9 members. There were 10 chairs. So Marga was really her lead. There was indeed a new member and it seemed that the newcomer wasn't really welcomed. As Yana thought, the 9 members entered the room. They were all males. They didn't even wait for the 10th member and started talking. In fact, they were talking about him.
Listening closely, they wondered how he got in. No one has recommended him or knew him. In fact, they have heard of him but didn't know him personally. The even more baffling thing was that he wasn't from City A. But through all the conversation they've never mentioned his name. Yana was frustrated. She wanted to know who he was.
The club name was 'secret society'. Yana sneered as she saw those all-so-self-important people laugh and chat but their contents of the conversation were so vile and disgusting. It was similar to that bunny club but considerably smaller and only exclusive to this city.
"What a bunch of-" but Yana stopped as she saw the door open once again. In an instant, it turned silent in the room. All eyes followed the male who came in. Even Yana held her breath and her heart raced.
"What the fuck?" Yana muttered under her breath and was taken aback.
How the hell did he get here? Out of all people Yana has never expected him to appear here. That bastard looked so healthy and arrogant.
Yana thought that due to the '3-comps-scandal' he completely broke down and hid himself. Didn't he forcefully resign?
But now that bastard seemed well enough to smile and greet everyone.
Mik. It was the former CEO of LXL. Mr K's former boss who put Yana through quite a lot of work. For that scum to appear here now in City A, something fishy and big was going on. He seemed to be hiding here. For that, he wasn't lying low at all but even got into contact with all of these people.
Could it be that he had gotten help? From one of them? Yana narrowed her eyes. One of these members might've helped Mik from the dark without letting anyone know. But why? For what reason? Why help a person that was useless and on his last feet? For what purpose and use?
This reveal blew Yana away. She didn't think from just a visit of a customer, she would make such a big discovery. There was someone pulling the strings, definitely. Yana had to find out who and why Mik was here. This might all be related to that organisation. There was no other explanation and Yana's intuition was most of the time right.
"…in the upcoming event," Mik's voice that faded in Yana's ear pulled her back from her thoughts. Event? What upcoming event?
"Are you sure it will work?" a deep and slightly older voice appeared.
"Worry not, we have been doing this for months now and there's no problem. I'm merely here to take over."
"That's what I'm worried about," a softer male's voice appeared.
"It's fine, it's fine. I can understand you're not trusting me but don't forget who's backing me up. He'll come too."
"To the event?"
"Yes, of course."
Backing Mik? He? So there was indeed someone who pulled Mik back to help him.
And that a person was going to an event. Yana had to be present and find out who that was.
She leaned closer to the window. Since Mr Roasaneli was sitting, the audio was muffled and Yana could only hear more or less of the conversation.
"On the 29th?" finally Mr Rosaneli spoke up.
"Indeed, if he's coming, heh, let's see what the next steps are," a now slightly drunk voice appeared.
The rest of the conversation Yana didn't hear clearly but she had more than enough information. The event would take place on the 29th. That was less than a week. More than enough time to prepare.
Yana moved closer to the window again and peeked. All 10 members were now starting to enjoy themselves. Only Mr Rosaneli didn't seem to drink. As Yana let her eyes wander coincidentally Mr Rosaneli looked up.
Their eyes met briefly. Yana instantly pulled back and ran across the roof, down the wall to the alley.
She has been discovered! She was too careless. The moment their eyes met, Yana felt a chill freezing her body and numbing her brain. Then a second later her heart started to race uncontrolled to the point her legs became weak.
This has really happened. For Yana to react like this, only meant that Mr Rosanlei was a complicated person. Someone dangerous. The cold emotions hidden behind his eyes were sharp and piercing.
Although Yana wore a cap and it was dark outside, she wasn't sure how much he saw of her. This was her mistake. However, the worst thing was that she had to abandon tonight's mission and left a clue to Mr Rosaneli.
Actually, after the meeting ended, she wanted to take back the listening device but now this was impossible. She couldn't retrieve it and had to let Mr Rosaneli take it. The upside was with a simple transmitter he couldn't figure out her identity.
