Chapter 95 - Pain is needed

It took Yana a while before she thawed from the shock. Luka's bright eyes shone when he looked at her, his face was so close Yana was afraid she might get a heart attack, and his comforting smell seeped into her and melted her brain. This was dangerous.

But then Luka made an even more fatal move. His sweet words echoed in her mind and it took Yana approximately a whole minute for her to pull away and turn around.

She wasn't going to give in. Yana steadied her heart and hardened her mind. She wouldn't pretend not to know him but she kept her distance from him and interact as little as possible with Luka here, it might be possible that her mission once again would be messed up.

"Come with me. I'll show you the changing room," Yana walked to the back of the score without glancing at Luka once. She heard his heavy steps behind her and felt his burning gaze on her back.

Yana took a deep breath to calm herself. Once she pushed back the door to the back place another large space awaited them. The hallway led to a few different doors. Behind the farthest door, at the end of the bright hallway with windows, was the garden house for the flowers. Currently, that was where the manager was counting.

The door to the left was the office of the manager. The first door led to the changing room while the last was the staff break room. Yana showed Luka the changing room and pulled an apron and nametag out of one locker.

"This is your locker," Yana grimaced before she put his clothes on a table at a wall and pointed at the nametag, "Write down your name and get changed."

Yana didn't even bother to stay any longer and talk to him, "When you finished, come to the counter."

Although Yana was burning to ask what in the world a CEO of the most prominent company in the country was doing here as a normal worker in a flower shop away from his city and company, Yana held the desire back.

She didn't want to show any interest towards him because once she did, it only made him cling onto her harder. But there was also this nagging feeling again that maybe Luka was here out to get her. Yana stood in front of the counter and suddenly got anxious. Could it be that Luka really had some ulterior motives towards her and that was why he chased after her like this?

Which normal person would be so adamant about finding a person that didn't want to be found? There must be something that Luka was hiding. This realisation made Yana growl with anger. She had to find out what his goal was on top of this mission.

Luka was once again giving her more work than she had. A month passed and Yana was still nowhere near to even have a clue for her mission. Now she had another headache to worry about.

Yana was about to drown in her thoughts when Luka's voice brought her back, "How do I look?"

Yana gave him a glance over but remained quiet. When Luka came, he wore a simple white shirt and black pants which made him look casual yet suave but now with the green apron, Luka's domestic side shone through and he gave people a comfortable feeling that even someone who looked as expensive as him was down-to-earth.

What a joke. Yana smirked mentally before she walked away from the counter, "I'll show you everything," but then stopped. With a criticising gaze she looked at him, "Do you even know anything about flowers?"

Luka, who followed her, stopped right in front of her, "If you were able to learn it, then I can too, so of course I know."

This jerk! Yana's eyes twitched. What was he hinting on? Obviously making fun of her!

"Or how else would I've gotten this job?" Luka's crooked smile infuriated Yana even more.

"I don't know," she turned around and her ponytail swung fiercely with the action catching Luka's attention, "Maybe using your money and bribbing? Isn't that what you're good at?"

"I only did that to help you and I'll do it again if it's for you," Luka's voice came from behind, closer than she thought.

Yana, to escape it, quickly walked to the far left corner and pointed at it, "This here is the area for the-"

Yana wanted to change the topic but surprisingly Luka already did, "Where's the manager?"

"In the back, he's too busy to care about you or else I wouldn't be doing this annoying task," Yana muttered under her breath and touched the flowers.

She was so engrossed in her anger that she didn't realise that Luka stopped right behind her. When she did, it was already too late. Shock gripped her and a tingling feeling that made her legs weak froze her body.

Luka's strong arms wrapped around her waist while his head rested on her shoulder, his nose trailed down her neck while his hot breath tickled her ear, "Are you really not going to ask me why I'm here? What a CEO's doing as a simple worker?"

Although Yana heard his words, her wild and loud heartbeat drowned out his voice and only static was left behind. She felt his warmth seeping into her, his arms holding her in a comfortable embrace. The tingling in her stomach got worse as she shook slightly. Luka really was too dangerous. The power he held over her made her want to give in and hug him back, but Yana didn't know why she felt that way and she started to panic.

She struggled free from his hold and pushed Luka ungently away. Yana didn't miss the hurt expression on his face but brushed over it as she straightened her clothes.

With a cold voice, she said, "I don't care about your reason:"

The truth was Yana didn't want to hear it. For some reason, she already knew what he would say. Luka was going to break her determination just like this if this went on.

She just didn't know what was going on in his head. Was this perhaps really his act of getting closer to her for his ulterior motives?

Yes, that was it. Yana quickly convinced herself. Luka was only pretending to be interested in Yana because he had a goal he wanted to reach and Yana was a crucial stepping stone in it.

This time, however, Yana didn't play along although she wanted to find out what it was, she wouldn't do it this way. She would find another way. She had to make it clear to Luka about her feelings. She was sure to stay away from him and that was what she was going to do.

"Listen, Luka," Yana started and when she said his name, Luka's eyes lit up and a smile graced his lips but Yana was determined to break that fake expression of his, "Stop being annoying," she used the same words he used that had hurt her in the past,

"I don't know what your motives are, I don't know what you want and I don't know why you're acting this way but you better don't get the wrong idea. I," Yana stepped closer to him and looked him dead in the eyes, "can't stand you. So, stop fucking thinking that you can get close to me. I hate your presence and right now I'm trying to be nice enough to endure you, so don't step over the line."
