Confused and surprised, but also a bit scared, Yana tried to pull her grip away from the strange guy.
"My apologies," he let her go and held his hands up.
He stood straight and his eyes were expressionless. Yana had no time to deal with him as Luka was waiting for her.
"Is there anything you want?" she sized him up cautiously. He was quite good-looking but the way he held himself told her that he was obviously a serious guy who wouldn't understand fun. With people like this, Yana had a hard time getting along with.
"Is your name Yana, Yana-'' he stopped and held up his phone to show her last name. Suddenly, Yana tensed up. Who was this man and how did he know about her? Obviously, something wasn't right here.
Then she looked up from the phone at his face again. What did he want from her? He didn't seem like a bad person but somehow he was still capable of inducing fear into her without doing anything but just standing there. Just who was he?
Yana gripped her bag and the rim of her dress. Maybe she should call Luka to tell him about the strange guy. Her fingers nervously glided into their bag as sweat formed on the back of her nape.
The guy seemed to notice Yana's aversion and put his phone away then he held his hands up and maintained his distance, "My apologies if I scared you, I know this is too much for you so suddenly but I have something that might interest you. Would you like to discuss this over dinner?"
Yana was at a loss. At first, he wanted to question her and now he invited her to dinner? What was his motive? Why did he think she would agree so easily?
Yana looked at him. Behind him, the city lights lit up the pedestrianised streets with trees on both sides while behind Yana was the busy street with cars passing creating loud noises.
"I already have plans," Yana wanted to turn around when the guy stopped her, "I'm only here for today. I've to go tomorrow morning. I'm Roy, Yana," Roy let go of Yana's arm and retreated to give her distance again.
"I don't care who you are, I've to go," Yana wanted to get away from him as fast as possible. She turned around and took the first step.
"I have information about your parents. Your parents' murderers to be precise."
Click. Clack.
Yana's high heels came to a halt. Blood rushed to her head and drowned out any superfluous noises. The only thing she heard was the static rustle crashing against her eardrums. Her body suddenly felt heavy.
Her parents. Her parents' murderer. Murderers. Something she swore she'd uncover. Something she wanted to know for the longest time and now…
This person, Roy, knew of it. He was her only clue. The clue she has been searching for so long. The reason why she moved to City M in the first place.
Yana's feet moved slowly. Her long hair covered her face as she turned on her heels and walked towards Roy. The bright and cheerful expression on Yana's face vanished and now it was indecipherable, unfathomable.
When Yana stood before Roy and raised her head, Roy silently froze yet he remained unfazed.
The dark glint swept across Yana's cold face before she bored her finger into Roy's chest and with a low, suppressed voice said, "Ok, Roy. Let's go."
As Yana walked past him and led the way, Roy followed, watching her back. Yana was indeed the daughter of her father.
The change in her personality, the way she exuded dominance so oblivious, Roy held higher hopes than originally. Yana….would become the perfect successor of her father.

Luka arrived in the restaurant he texted Yana the location of. The restaurant was on the top floor of a skyscraper that was completely built out of glass. The city lights shone brightly and beautifully illuminated the windows.
On the top floor, they seemed to dance above the horizon like twinkling stars.
Luka stepped into the lift and checked himself in the mirror. He was still wearing his attire from this afternoon, yet he didn't look too bad but also not ideal. Luka had rushed here, so he was in a mess.
Straightening his hair and making sure he looked his part, Luka calmed his nerves. He knew that once he laid his eyes on Yana again, his heart would be uncontrollable and he couldn't push down his urge to touch her.
Caress her and make her as comfortable as possible. To see her bright and dazzling smile lighting her clear eyes up that were like the current night sky. He could get lost in them and the more he stared, the more he wanted to dive in and know everything about her.
When Luka saw her this afternoon in the red dress, he wanted to be the one accompanying and spoiling her like crazy. Anything she wanted he would give it to her. But it wasn't possible. Because he made a mistake and couldn't make up for it.
Luka has debated whether or not to call Yana and when he finally got the courage, he was overwhelmed by her voice and happiness overcame her when she agreed.
Bing.
The doors of the lift opened and Luka was brought back to reality. In front of the glass door that led to the restaurant, a lady stood at a table and greeted Luka with a smile.
A light blush appeared on her cheeks. Then confirming his reservation she showed Luka to his table.
A table for two at the window. The restaurant was covered in a dark red carpet and the tables were ebony brown with large armchairs serving as seating options.
The bar had a variety of expensive wines and the whole ambience was extravagant.
One look out of the window revealed the breathtaking view. Luka was sure Yana would love it. Not only the interior nor the view but also the food. However, Luka waited.
And waited.
And waited yet Yana never showed up.
No phone call, no text, only mailbox.
Yana still didn't come when the restaurant had to close and even when Luka waited in front of the building until the next morning-
Yana never came.
