Chereads / An Undetermined Fate / Chapter 7 - Volume VII

Chapter 7 - Volume VII

As the pale dark-haired girl fell she shed tears in hopelessness. As she fell she thought to herself of the man who she saw dead, this very same man was the guard escorting the French women into The Great Hall, wining on her alcohol and feasting on her chickens. The French were filled with perfidy and duplicity, had she believed she would survive her fall from an 84-foot high window, she would've sworn to never be trustful of the French for the remainder of her life. In her betrayal, she thought of her husband. The man who swore to stand by her till death did them part was the same man who fled to escape the massacre, leaving her to die, although in the end she was sentenced to death anyhow by her own hands nevertheless. How ironic. She thought of Alastair and how his loyalty was unbending until the very end, although he was mostly a stern, cold man, she cherished him even now during the final moments she mourned for him. She would long to hear his stories again, but she supposed her life was to end anyways. And her maid, she would miss her soft caress and her peevish posture, even though she was often scolded by her she closely related to her as well. Most likely due to their closeness in age as Ella was just 22 years. Despite Ella's young age, the young girl thought of her as her mother, seeming as though her real mother died when she was just a young age. Through her blurry vision and teary eyes, she smiled, she hoped Ella escaped safely, had she escaped as well she would probably be scolded harshly. As she hit the ground she felt her bones breaking from the impact, in anguish, she shut her eyes and slept.
