Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Mei-Yin

Lin Xiao Yi was confused about how to persuade a child because she didn't have the slightest experience.  She only massaged her temples when the little girl didn't want to go home and hugged her legs tighter so she couldn't move.

"You better go home first. Let me take her home later," Lin Xiao Yi said to the nanny out of pity.  Couldn't bear to see her looking tired.

"But…."  Ling Zhi hesitated, it was impossible to let her foster child go with someone else.  If the little girl disappeared. It was certain that maybe her life will be at stake.

"You don't need to worry, I've lived here for a long time. If you're afraid that I'll deceived, you can visit me at that house later," Lin Xiao Yi said while pointing at the two-stairs house which was not too big.  The wall color was light green so it looked very bright.  It was the house she shared with Fang Yin.

"Okay."  Finally Ling Zhi agreed because she wanted to drink first.  Too much running made her throat felt dry.

Lin Xiao Yi turned her body to face the little girl.  Then squat in front of her.  The situation was awkward because Lin Xiao Yi was not used to children.  But the little girl looked very adorable.

"What's your name, little girl?" Lin Xiao Yi asked, who finally opened her voice even though her voice stuttered a little.

"Mei-Yin," she said simply.  Her two eyelids flickered, revealing her eyes that was as clear as water.

"Let's go for a walk for a while," Lin Xiao Yi said as a bait so that the little girl refused and chose to go home.

However Lin Xiao Yi was wrong.  The 4 year old little girl nodded her head very excitedly.

Lin Xiao Yi's body immediately felt limp and couldn't do anything about it.  With great force Lin Xiao Yi kept her promise to walk around the housing complex.

They joined hands because Mei-Yin's hand didn't let her hand slip away from Lin Xiao Yi.

"Where is your parents?" Lin Xiao Yi asked, who was curious.  A little girl her age should still be under the supervision of her mother even though she has a nanny.

"My father is out of town and my mother is gone," Mei-Yin said in the typical accent of children her age who were not very fluent in speaking.

Lin Xiao Yi only nodded her head without asking any more because it was none of her business.  Although there was a little curiosity about the whereabouts of her mother.

They enjoy the evening scenery in silence.  Nobody opened their voices again after that one question.  Lin Xiao Yi was also confused about having to chat with a child like Mei-Yin.

After half an hour of walking around, now the sun has almost drowned itself in the western horizon.  Now only a golden orange glow remained.

They have now arrived in front of a towering gate.  The gate made of iron was so sturdy.

"Mei-Yin, come into the house. It's not good for a child to be outside," Lin Xiao Yi said for the umpteenth time until she wanted to give up.

The little girl still shook her head while looking up at Lin Xiao Yi.  Blinking her eyes repeatedly.

"Ughh, how can I get rid of this child?" Lin Xiao Yi thought as she rubbed the exasperated face up to her head.

Finally Lin Xiao Yi decided to press the bell beside the gate.  Hoping that her parents have come home so that she will be free.

It wasn't long before the gates were opened wide.  A well-built man with a frightening face came out with a sharp gaze fixed directly on Lin Xiao Yi.

"Little Miss," the guard said, widened his eyes.  But immediately bowed as a form of respect to his boss's daughter.

"How come the little lady be with you?"  he accused with an intimidating gaze towards Lin Xiao Yi.

"Don't look at me like that. I came here just to take her, not to cause trouble," Lin Xiao Yi grumbled, who didn't like the man's gaze.

"Mei-Yin, come in because auntie have business," Lin Xiao Yi said, lying.  At least if it's for goodness sake it didn't matter.

Mei-Yin grabbed Lin Xiao Yi's wrist even tighter instead.

"Master, can you call Ling Zhi? I can't stay here too long because of some business," Lin Xiao Yi said, who was running out of patience.

The guard nodded his head so it wasn't long before the man returned to the front with Ling Zhi.

"Thank you for looking after Miss Mei-Yin. Can I know what your name is?"  Ling Zhi asked as she reached out to take Mei-Yin's hand.

"Just call me Lin Xiao Yi. I better go now because I have an important business."

Lin Xiao Yi then hurriedly left without saying goodbye to Mei-Yin for fear that the little girl would change her mind.

Mei-Yin continued to observe Lin Xiao Yi's back with a grim face.  After several times of persuasion, Mei-Yin finally wanted to be invited into the big house.
