Some moments before the battle between Murkrow and Golbat started, three people entered the Zubat cave Arthur was battling in.
"There are signs of battle."
"It looks like someone was here."
They were of course the members of Team Rocket who had been exploring the caves in groups of three, to find a way to the Clefairy tribe and moon stone.
One of the groups had coincidentally found the cave which Arthur was using for his training.
"Leader, what are we gonna do?"
"Should we go ahead or report it to Chief Ronin?"
Two guys who were wearing the standard Team Rocket outfit asked their group leader about what they should do in this situation.
The two grunts looked fairly average. One of them was tall and thin with black hair and the other was shorter with slightly long blonde hair.
Although the grunts looked average, the same can't be said about the person who they regarded as the leader.
"We can report it to Ronin, but I think we should investigate more first. The signs of battle aren't old and these footsteps are of just one trainer. I think he has quite a powerful Pokemon with him."
Soros, their leader said as he glanced at the footsteps on the ground. There were two types of footsteps on the ground. One was of a human and one was of a Pokemon.
As Murkrow was constantly flying in the air, there were no footsteps of him.
'It don't seem like an ordinary trainer.'
Soros thought quietly and pondered.
He has dark blue hair and a sharp face that looks handsome, but cold. The aura around him was sinister and greed can be easily seen in his eyes.
"I decided. We are gonna go after this trainer."
He said after a while, glancing between his two team members.
"Won't that be dangerous, leader?"
The blonde haired grunt asked and the tall grunt agreed with him.
"Yeah, the signs of battle clearly says that the Pokemon with him isn't weak. They were probably battling the Zubats. They are not easy Pokemon to handle when they are in groups. I think we should report it to Chief Ronin instead of..."
"Shut up!! Why are you two so scared of danger?"
Soros interrupted the tall grunt and shouted in a loud voice, filled with coldness.
"We are from Team Rocket. Others should be scared of us, but you two are scared of one single trainer. I'm going ahead instead of telling Ronin cause that trainer has a strong Pokemon. We can easily kill the trainer and capture that Pokemon for our use."
There was a rule in Team Rocket; a grunt can keep the Pokemon that he had stolen from a trainer for his own use. He can also give the stolen Pokemon to the organisation if he wants to.
In the end, it was a personal choice.
This was a rule that gave a lot of freedom to the grunts and it also helped many grunts to raise their rankings in Team Rocket.
Soros was also after that.
Although he had a fairly strong Koffing and a Graveler, he wasn't content with them as they were too much of a common Pokemon in Team Rocket and the potential was limited.
He wanted to get a rare and strong Pokemon and now, the opportunity was right in front of him. How can he let it go?
"But what if the trainer is too... strong for us?"
"You fool! We are three people and there's only a single trainer. Moreover, he would be too tired after battling the Zubats. We can easily ambush him and kill him before he can even react."
Soros' glare sent a chill up the spines of the two grunts and they weren't able to object more. Although they felt uneasy about it, they couldn't do anything.
The only silver lining was that Soros words were indeed reasonable.
There was a high chance for an ambush to succeed and the grunts also wanted to get their hands on some rare Pokemon.
Trainers would seldom come to this part of Mount moon and they had only come across wild Pokemon till now. It was their chance to do something big.
They all started walking deep into the cave while looking out for any wild Zubats.
But strangely, there was not one Zubat that attacked them. Instead of that, they found the corpses of many Zubats on the ground which made them a little scared.
'Some of the corpses are burned... It's probably a fire type.'
Soros thought as he examined the corpse of one of the Zubats.
The feeling that the trainer had done all this wasn't normal grew within his heart, but he still moved on. He wasn't willing to lose a chance like this.
As he grew closer to the end of the cave, he suddenly heard some noises.
"What's this sound...?"
The blonde haired grunt muttered with an uneasy expression.
"There seemed to be a battle going around here. Follow me!"
Soros said and started running towards the place where the sound was coming from. They found themselves in front of an exit and stopped their tracks.
'What the fuck is going on here??'
His eyes went wide as he craned his neck to look inside the cave. What he saw was fascinating.
A battle was going on.
A Murkrow and a Golbat were fighting as the Zubats acted as an audience. His eyes also saw Arthur, who was commanding Murkrow with a Charmander besides her.
"A Murkrow and a Charmander... This is my jackpot!!"
Soros said excitedly while the other two grunts kept watching the battle with a shine in their eyes.
They haven't seen such a battle in a long time and were fixed on it. At that moment, Soros spoke.
"You two, bring out your Pokemon. We will start the ambush as soon as the battle is over!"
"Leader, are you sure?"
"Yeah, that trainer looks more powerful than we thought..."
"Yeah, I'm sure! Now, let's get to work. We can get our hands on ultra rare Pokemon today and will reach the top of Team Rocket!"
Soros said as he brought out his Koffing and Graveler.
