Chapter 40 - Chapter 039

The next day, when he woke up, all his Pokemon were already healed and they looked refreshed, after spending a night in the Pokemon center. Especially his Murkrow.

The most injured one of his Pokemon was Murkrow, but now, he had finally recovered and was back in full health.

When Arthur saw him in the morning, his wings were shining and he looked ready to fly in the air with his wings finally healed. Nurse Joy told him that Murkrow was in perfect health now and Arthur can't be happier hearing it.

'His aptitude had also recovered completely.'

Arthur thought as he glanced at the bright green aptitude of Murkrow on his status.

It looked like Arthur would finally be able to use a flying type going forward in his journey and he knew that it was going to be a huge help. But for how, he didn't have any use for Murkrow.

That's why, he called him back to his pokeball alongside his other Pokemon, leaving Charmander standing alone.

"Charr!"

Charmander let out a happy growl as he glanced at Arthur, wondering what he was going to do.

Suddenly, Arthur brought out a disc and put it towards Charmander, who recognized the disc as the thing that was in the box which Arthur had dug out from under the ground.

"Charmander, do you know what this is?" Arthur asked.

"Charr?" Charmander shook his head and looked back in confusion, not knowing what the disc purpose was.

The only thing he knew was that the disc was valuable and his trainer was really happy after getting it. Other than that, he didn't know anything about it.

"This disc is called a TM." Arthur began to explain. "It contains a move called dig and you can directly impart that move in your mind, instantly learning it if you use it."

Charmander's eyes widened upon hearing that explanation.

He immediately understood why Arthur was so happy about getting the TM. His eyes that were looking at the TM changed as Arthur began to speak again.

"We will be fighting a tough battle in two days and our opponent will use rock Pokemon. As you know, your moves won't work on rock Pokemon and maybe, they won't even leave a scratch. If we go into the fight like this, there's a high chance we will lose..."

Charmander's pupils shook hearing that.

He very well knew that fire didn't work against rock. No matter how high the temperature of his fire is, it won't be able to melt the defenses of a rock Pokemon.

Due to having a competitive personality, the one thing that he hated the most was losing.

"But if you learn this move, then maybe we will have a chance. What do you think about it?" Arthur completed his sentence, bringing back hope to Charmander's eyes.

Although he had already decided to teach Charmander the move, Arthur still wanted to hear his starter Pokemon's opinion.

After all, he didn't want to be one of those trainers who never listen to what their Pokemon really wanted.

He very well understood the importance of communicating with his Pokemon and he was also pretty sure that Charmander wouldn't reject learning dig.

And just like he had thought, Charmander didn't reject it.

"Charr!"

A fire was blazing in Charmander's eyes as he looked at the TM in Arthur's hands.

He nodded his head vigorously and picked up the TM, wanting to learn dig as soon as possible. Arthur smiled seeing that and the next sequence of events was quick.

It wasn't hard to learn a move from the TM and when Arthur used the TM on Charmander, it started glowing and the information about the move started directly transferring to Charmander's head.

"Chart?!"

Charmander was surprised when a vision suddenly flashed across his mind, but he calmed his beating heart down and focused on the vision. The vision was about him using dig and how to properly do it.

Every information, every single detail was embedded in his mind naturally like it was always there.

When Charmander opened his eyes again after a while, his eyes were a little changed and Arthur quickly checked his status.

A status window appeared before him as soon as he thought about it.

There was now 'Dig' written on the moves panel. It had replaced Scratch cause Charmander still can't learn over 4 moves in his moveset.

Unlike the games, a Pokemon can learn more than 4 moves in this world, but it was different from every Pokemon. For example, Mankey can learn more than 4 moves while Charmander can't.

There is still not enough research done on this topic in the Pokemon world as to why some Pokemon can learn more moves than others.

Most researchers had just concluded that a Pokemon has a fixed number of moves he can learn and by leveling up and evolution, the number of moves learned can be increased.

That's why, even though Charmander can only learn 4 moves currently, he would surely be able to learn more than 4 once he evolved into a Chameleon.

'He has learned the move, but he still needs to practice it and get used to it.'

Arthur thought and looked at Charmander.

Then, he took him and moved downstairs to the battlegrounds just behind the Pokemon center. For trainers to battle, most Pokemon centres had a battle ground and you could always see trainers battling each other here.

Many times, there would even be a large crowd gathered if the trainers battling are famous in the trainers community.

"Hey, that's the guy who had a TM."

"Yeah, is he here for a battle?"

"It looks like that. His Charmander looks strong. Let me challenge him!"

When Arthur reached the grounds, there was a murmur in the air. Thanks to the commotion that had been caused due to him having a TM, almost all trainers in the Pokemon center knew him.

"Let's see who will be a good opponent to battle."

Arthur muttered as he looked around the horde of trainers.
