'It's really a Scyther!'
Arthur exclaimed in his mind as he looked at the green, insectoid Pokemon that was sleeping while leaning back on the tree.
He quickly used his system and looked at the Scyther's status.

'Green aptitude with a great moveset. And the colour of his aptitude is even deep. It can surely evolve into blue aptitude with training.'
Arthur blinked in amazement as he looked at the status of the Scyther. He felt like his luck was really great that he had come across such a great aptitude Pokemon and he was even alone.
Although he had thought of a plan to catch a Scyther, it was still going to be a lot of trouble since Scyther usually lives in groups.
And as all of them were really powerful, Arthur couldn't attack them mindlessly.
But now, he had found a Scyther that was alone and when Arthur checked through his status, he found out that there was no other Pokemon in sight.
He still wondered what the Scyther was doing alone on the outskirts of his territory, but he didn't give it much thought.
It was a golden chance for him.
Arthur's whole focus now was to catch the Scyther in front of him.
At the same time, the sleeping Scyther has also noticed Arthur. His senses had woken him up as soon as Arthur had entered his range.
But he was still pretending to be asleep, because he was waiting for Arthur to make his next move. In this part of the forest, humans would seldom come.
The only humans who would come were the rangers who would come to inspect the Pokemon and make a report about the territory.
That's why Scyther's knowledge about humans was non-existent and he was intrigued as to why Arthur was here.
As to why the Scyther was alone in the outskirts of the territory, it was because he was living in exile. This Scyther was once the patriarch of the Scyther tribe that rules the Viridian forest.
Some months ago, he was challenged by another Scyther for the seat of the patriarch of the tribe and lost, leading to his exile from the tribe.
It was a rule that a patriarch can't stay with the tribe after getting defeated. That's why this Scyther started living alone on the outskirts of the Scyther territory.
When he was a patriarch, the only thing in his mind was the welfare of his tribe, but he had lost this reason after getting exiled.
Now without any particular goal in mind, Scyther was just living alone and still pondering over his defeat, thinking of ways to become even stronger.
'Should I attack him now that he's sleeping?'
Arthur, who didn't know anything about the backstory of the Scyther, was pondering on the most efficient way to launch an attack.
As he formed a plan in his mind, he thought back to the information he knew about Scyther — The information from games, Pokemon anime and what he had studied in his world.
According to what Professor Oak had told him back when he was still working at his lab, Scyther was regarded as the king of Kanto bugs and it was like a cold and silent ninja.
At the same time, it was also hard to tame because Scythers only followed the trainers that they deem strong. In that case, launching a sneak attack can surely be taken as cowardly by the Scyther.
'Professor Oak has told me the best way to catch a Scyther.'
Arthur thought back to one of his old memories.
It had happened when he was taking care of another trainer's Scyther at Oak lab.
That Scyther wasn't listening to him no matter what he did and in the end, he needed to ask Professor Oak for help.
Professor Oak had easily subdued that Scyther that was like a wild, ferocious beast in front of Arthur.
Unable to hide his curiosity, Arthur had asked him, 'Why didn't that Scyther listen to me?'
With a laugh, Professor Oak had told him, 'Scyther are really proud Pokemon and they only listen to those humans which they think are strong. That Scyther didn't listen to you because you opted for a cautious approach towards him, but as I showed no fear in front of him, he acknowledged me as someone strong. It's that simple.'
Hearing that, Arthur had asked, 'Then, if I came across a Scyther after becoming a trainer and wanted to catch him, what would be the best way?'
Professor Oak had pondered for a minute and had replied, 'You should challenge it to a battle. A one on one fight is the best way to win over a Scyther.'
"Challenge it to a battle." Arthur muttered after thinking back to that conversation.
He blinked his eyes twice and glanced over at Charmander who was also looking back at him, waiting for a command.
"Charmander, prepare yourself for battle!"
"Charr!"
Arthur said and Charmander immediately understood what he was talking about. He jerked his head back to look at Scyther, who was still pretending to be asleep and a cold light flicker in his eyes.
"Scyther, I want to challenge you to a battle!"
Walking up to Scyther, Arthur loudly yelled.
He had decided to not opt for a sneak attack and directly challenge it to a battle.
"Scythe!"
The eyes of the Scyther opened as soon as he heard Arthur's words. He had thought that the human in front of him had come to capture him while he was sleeping.
But it looks like he was wrong.
Scyther didn't hate the thought of a battle as he had not fought even once after getting exiled from his tribe. So, he stood up and pointed one of his claws towards Charmander.
He was telling Charmander to come at him!
