Chapter 46 - You're lying

Inside the room, Noire had looked at the egg in front of him for about ten minutes before letting out a heavy sigh.

The negative atmosphere looming over the egg made his heart feel heavy. As a Dragon, he naturally has an invisible connection of empathy towards the Royal Bloodline of a Phoenix, so seeing one suffering the ebbs and flows of time helplessly stirred his heart.

Extending his right palm as if stretching it to gently pat a docile child, Noire's soft-touch seemed to connect with the egg on an ethereal level.

Suddenly, a portion of his bloodline essence began to condense inside his meridians from the marrow, steadily advancing to enshroud the egg like a silver cacoon with a golden shimmer.

Inside the shell, the heavy breathing and anxious sobbing began to decrease.

The young phoenix doesn't know when, but suddenly, the vacuum didn't feel as lonely anymore.

The scenes still played, and she was yet too scared to open her eyes due to the darkness, but for some reason, she felt as if she's no longer struggling alone.

Slowly, the lingering Death Qi began to dissipate, her azure strands gained their luster of vitality, the layers of gray matter began to peel off her skin.

When she finally dared to open her eyes, surprisingly, she couldn't.

It's like her consciousness split into two parts.

One part believed the darkness is no more.

One part believed it is but an illusion.

This internal struggle lasted for an entire day before she could feel a gentle palm caressing her temple. Her round cute eyes shot open in disbelief as she stared at the man in front of her in a daze.

He seemed like an illusion, a transparent body that merged into the darkness, but a silver and golden halo surrounded his frame like a beacon in the abyss.

A tall young man with long white hair, silver iris, golden pupils, symmetrical facial features, and a sharp jawline.

He gave her a gentle smile that seemed to radiate warmth enough to obliterate the coldness which crept onto her body from all angles. He didn't say a single word and neither did she, they just looked at each other with unconditional content.

....

Noire found himself in a peculiar state, his eyes closed shut and his consciousness entered a bizarre space.

Ubiquitous cold and negative essence swarmed onto him without reverse.

Within the stretch of darkness, Noire saw some ancient scenes that are countless years old.

He witnessed a great war from beginning to end.

He witnessed an apocalyptic catastrophe and an ocean of blood, giant demons sailed through pools of blood on their feet as they waved weapons the size of buildings.

He witnessed the sky painted crimson, and a proud elegant phoenix soaring through clouds of blood.

Azure Flame Phoenix.

Somehow, Noire ended up viewing the records of history that the young phoenix had viewed countless times over, and once the scenes began to melt and disintegrate, Noire could feel a subtle motion in the space around him.

The darkness began to fold like a sheet, revealing a young girl that didn't seem to be older than 16. However, Noire is positive that she's at least two thousand years old by now.

The fact her vitality was able to survive till today is a miracle in itself.

She had long, deep azure hair. Snow-white skin with a tinge of soft red, delicate and thin limbs, she looked like the work of a god.

Seeing how anxious she is, her body slightly shivering, Noire reached out to pat her head reassuringly.

That moment, Noire began to share his bloodline essence and merge it into her bone marrow in a fluid manner, allowing her skeleton to harden and her blood to surge with vitality.

The halo around Noire began to dim but it didn't entirely lose its luster and warmth, that's when the young phoenix began to show signs of mental stability and opened her eyes.

Sharp mature eyes facing the deep curious eyes.

Although it is the first time she saw him, she felt an inexplicable sense of belonging by his side.

Noire had similar feelings, but he had the mental capacity to focus on nourishing her vitality as a priority.

"What do you think you're doing?" She squinted her eyes with a dangerous light flaring in between the darkness of their iris.

"You don't seem that heartbroken anymore is all," He replied, standing there casually with an expression of skepticism and greed.

"Cut the nonsense, husband!" Anastasia exclaimed.

She was now trapped in the corner of her bedroom, Lord Kami personally placed restrictions on the room from windows to the only door.

Although he is a half-step into the Celestial, he is still stronger than a peak Eclipse like his wife.

"After so many years of marriage, I can tell when you're lying to me, and now you are lying." Kami said with a sigh, "You are hiding something from me, and I'm pretty sure it's something very critical. Unless you tell me what it is, I'll keep you confined in this room."

"Okay, good, very good. I lied, but I'm not obliged to tell you anything at all. I'm your wife, not your plaything." Anastasia dropped the fragile woman act, her domineering and proud aura dispersed once more.

"If you think fetching out a secret is worth walking down this narrow path of grievance, allow me to walk you through it."

Sometimes, playing the comprehensive wife isn't all that great.

"If you think that because I'd lost a daughter then I'd lost my ferociousness, you're still a hundred years too late to claim you thoroughly know me, Kami," Anastasia said, her Monster Qi revolving to the extreme.

Kami only squinted his eyes at Anastasia's aura, then he said, "As I suspected, your bloodline improved slightly. I may not be shrewd, but I'm not a fool either. What exactly happened to my daughter?"

A hint of surprise flashed through Anastasia's eyes, but she quickly concealed it.

She held her ground, she didn't deny nor confirm his speculations, she simply said, "Your daughter..."

"She is resting peacefully."

....

Meanwhile in the dark space.

"Pretty light..." The young-looking girl murmured softly.

Noire didn't say anything, he is currently in the form of a conscious projection, he can't further split his consciousness to perform dialogue and distribute bloodline essence throughout her marrow channels simultaneously.

Therefore, he peacefully closed his eyes and continued.

Seeing this, the young-looking female said nothing more, she just curiously observed him, no longer caring about the flow of time or the cramped feeling.
