It was a Sunday afternoon, Deni's family decided to get dim sum, which is amazing, for real. If you have never had it, you need to go get it. Now, go, go try it!
We all took separate cars. We got there at the same time as his parents, but we were still waiting for his brother Dee Dee. Dee Dee is the Chinese word for little brother.
Deni was on a work call, so we waited outside. Since Deni was still on the phone, his mum asked me to keep the food she had brought for Dee Dee and to give it to him once he arrived. I was like yeah, no problem. Now, you don't know this about me, but you're going to find it's a common thing, I am really bad with cars, Dee Dee drives a black car.
Deni is still on the phone when Dee Dee pulls up next to him, I motion to Deni that I am going to give Dee Dee his food. He looked so confused, but he was on the phone and I didn't want to bother him. I got the food and walked over to Dee Dee's door.
I opened it up and the driver pulled it shut. I thought he was playing with me, so, I kept trying to open the door. He wouldn't let me in, so I was like "Come on, open up, I have your food." At this point Deni gets out of the car and is like "What are you doing" I explained "Giving Dee Dee his food." "That's not Dee Dee, that's not even the type of car he drives." Deni didn't look surprised.
I looked in the window to see this guy and his girlfriend looking pretty terrified. I told them I was sorry I thought they were someone else and went to Deni, at this point Dee Dee had pulled up, he got out of his car, Deni gave him the food and told him we had to go inside because "Mare tried to give random people your food". Dee Dee was pretty confused by this, but I think he has learned not to ask questions through the years.
We got inside, sat down, and started ordering. The place was pretty packed. Dim Sum is usually before noon, and if you go to a good place, you're going to wait for a table. The table behind me cleared and that's where they sat the poor couple that I had messed with in the parking lot.
I tried to explain the situation, "Sorry, I thought you were him, your car is the same color, they looked nothing alike, so I said "you guys dress similarly." Deni was like, "No, stop, leave them alone, you're not making it better, in fact you're digging." I looked at Dee Dee who was shaking his head in agreement with his older brother. All through the meal the couple kept staring at me. Deni's parents asked why they kept looking at us so weird, so Deni explained, his parents just looked at me with a loss for words and the couple behind me staired at me till we left.
