Once I was just a normal teenager going to school, meeting girls, going out to party, and just complicating life for myself. Everything changed though, when the power plant near our town blew up and people started eating each other because it seemed like some of the workers there at the power plant have been contaminated with a the type of chemical which killed them but not entirely, it had killed a part of their brain to a point where all they knew, was to walk and eat... and I'm not talking about eating a burger with fries, but I'm talking about human flesh! Now, let me start at the beginning to before everything went to hell. Hi, my name is Aron I am 17 years old standing at five feet nine inches black hair and eyes weighing at 185. So I had just woken up from a nap it was Sunday afternoon around 2:00 p.m. My mom had gone to work leaving a note beside my bed on my desk telling me she had left food in the fridge for me to eat before I went to football practice starting at 3:30 p.m. I got up from my bed and walked towards the kitchen as I entered I noticed it was a sunny afternoon, sunnier than usual that's why I love keeping my room closed with blackout blinds A.C turned on with background music playing. I opened the fridge to see my mom had made me some tuna sandwiches my favorite! I stuffed them down as I got up to get my bag from the living room to pack my gear to head out for football practice. As I was heading out I checked my phone and noticed I had three missed calls from my girlfriend and six delivered messages. Oh boy was I dead! I gave her a call and she answered with a panicked toned voice. I was confused by her sudden call for me and asked her what was wrong and she told me have I not heard the news? I told her I was confused by her question and explained that I had woken up about a half an hour ago and was heading out to football practice. She explained to me that she was on her way back to town but they had stopped at a gas station to fuel up and on the TV that they had at the gas station the news was on, that a power plant near Nuclear town was erupting and that the townspeople should be aware for a moment's notice to evacuate. I was at a loss of words because if that power plant exploded it could potentially kill anything in its way for a 50 mile radius. I told her I was going to contact my mom and see if she knew anything about the power plant she agreed and I hung up and began to dial my mom's number as I was doing so I felt the ground shaking and in the distance I saw smoke, my eyes widened my legs felt like jello sweat starting to form in the back of my neck I snapped out of it and rushed over to my car as I dialed my mom's number nervously waiting as it rang and kept ringing but nothing. I yelled for my mom to pick up the phone as I dialed her again and this time she answered and I quickly asked her if she was still at work she said she was and asked why was I panicking? I filled her in on the current situation and how we needed to get out of the explosions radius. As I finished she told me to pack a bag of clothes for her and myself and anything that was important. I got out of my car took down my bag and rushed to my room where I dumped my gear and started filling it up with some shirts and jeans and looked around the house for anything important. After I had finished packing my stuff I went into my mom's room grabbed another bag and started filling it up with her clothing and anything of use and importance that I thought she would need. I got a text from my mom telling me that she had a secret stash of money underneath her bed in the floorboards I was surprised to read that message knowing that my mom had a secret storage place. So as I moved the bed out of the way I searched for a loose board hoping that would be the situation but instead I saw one of the boards have a hole a very small hole that you can miss if you weren't looking right I wondered if this was the hidden spot and how I would get it open without whatever I needed to unlock it, and as I was thinking to myself I got another message from my mom saying that she forgot to mention that the floorboard in order to open it needed a special key and that key was inside her cabinet inside a box with her jewelry. I walked over to her cabinet and looked for a box containing her jewelry I frantically searched through her clothing and finally found the box she was talking about I opened it and saw a weird black stick that had a key shaped end. I had no doubt that this was the key so I walked over to the floorboard that had the small hole and inserted the black stick with the key shaped end, I heard a loud click and the floorboard opened I removed it revealing quite a large hole filled with cash and a black leather box. I loaded up the cash in the bag and took out the black leather box I was suspicious to what was inside so I opened it and I was surprised to find that inside this black leather box was a gun! The reason I was surprised was because it was my mom were talking about she never liked violence or ever talked about having a gun stored in a secret spot that I didn't even know about until now. There wasn't time for questions right now I put that in her bag as well and loaded both bags inside of the car. I called my mom and told her I had a bag of clothing for her and myself I asked her where she wanted to meet? She told me we should meet on the outskirts of nuclear town so I put my car on reverse and backed out of my driveway and drove off to where my mom had told me to meet her.
