Chapter 6 - The Princess

Yavia sat in the living area next to Nobaru taking in the conversation between him and her father. Lord Nobaru was such a handsome man, but her father would never allow her to wed the seventh son of a lesser Noble family, nor would he allow her to wait past her sixteenth birthday, so awaiting his death wasn't an option either. She sighed heavily, would she ever find happiness? That was always the question on her mind. Living as a Royal Princess did have it's conveniences, but it was a drab life, and not one to be envious of to be sure.

Hearing her sigh the King turned towards his daughter.

"Listening to us talk about the future must leave you feeling dull my darling daughter. Why don't you and young Nobaru go for a walk in the garden while your mother and I rest and prepare for the long journey home."

Ares and Yavia excused themselves and walked side by side through the living area and out a side door the led to the garden. It was a beautiful place. Lush fauna and flora lined magnificent hedges, creating a small maze of sorts, with each new area boasting something different. Yavia was awestruck, she had always loved the country side, the flowers and plants of the Capitol never compare to that of any other place she had been. If she ran this country things would be quite different.

Ares led her by than hand through the maze of hedges slowly, passing through an area filled with the biggest sunflowers she had ever seen, past statues of the ancient Lord's of the land, and finally to a fountain area made up to look like a fairytale world. It was a sight to behold. Yavia's eyes sparkled as she took in statues of fairies, hedges made to look like dragons fighting warriors of legend, even the fountain was built like a miniature castle with a moat. This is exactly the kind of garden setting she'd always dreamt of having. Her world was spinning before her very eyes. Alone with the most handsome of men, a perfect fairytale setting surrounding them, their fingers still entwined.

She felt her cheeks flush with excitement and shame, her heart pounding in her chest. She had never felt this way before, and she was determined to feel it as often as possible. She didn't care what people thought, this seventh son of a Lesser Lord would be returning with them, no matter what. She held his hand a little more firmly and leaned into him, a soft smile upon her face as she sighed with content. She liked this boy Nobaru, and intended to keep him.
