While scrambling around in his office Nathaniel was throwing a fit as he complained about what happened. "three weeks how in the world does he expect me to redo the entire nation's budget cuts in only three weeks. That isn't something I can magically complete in my sleep. There is a long process that I have to go through that Involves me cross-checking with multiple other departments. Even at my fastest pace a month is still not enough time".
As Nathaniel raged he opened the bottom left drawer of his desk rummaged around inside and pulled out a disfigured photo of Lothar. This photo had Lothar depicted with having gapped teeth, multiple eyes on his head, squid tentacles, a dagger through his heart, a large nose, and a tiny worker shoveling horse dung through the gaps of his teeth solving the mystery to his rancid breath.
After Nathaniel grabbed the photo he clicked a button on his desk that automatically closed and locked the door for him. Certain that no one would come in Nathaniel pinned the photo on the far end of the room against a wall, went to retrieve a couple pairs of knives he kept in his office just for this occasion, and then let his anger guide him. Each blade flew through the air in an ark hitting its mark head on. Two daggers punctured Lothar's main eyes, another found its way into Lothar's heart, while the rest formed a smiley face.
Not finished Nathaniel went to the other side of the room to pick up a large worn out double sided axe that looks like it's seen its fair share of battle. The axe was a gift to him by the ambassador of Osland during a trip he took there. Nathaniel wielded that heavy 400-pound axe as though it was an ordinary kitchen knife and threw it with great force. A loud boom sounded in the room as the axe struck the picture splitting it in two forcing the knives and wood chips started to fly around the room.
Outside the room, Clark heard a dull thud that startled him and almost made him drop his drink. Clark experienced similar situations like this before he tried to address it but Nathaniel never listens to him. So, the days went on like this for him with strange sounds coming from his boss's office some of which scared him greatly.
Back inside Nathaniel's office, Nathaniel has settled down the embers of his rage now only present in the cold gaze he gave to the remnant fragments of Lothar's photo. With steady steps, Nathaniel walked over the debris on the floor and yanked out the old axe stuck in the wall with one hand. A look of sadness could be seen in Nathaniel's eyes because in his anger what he had done was commit an unforgivable sin.
The axe in his hand was an treasure of the past a precious piece of history that should be treasured yet he was swinging it around like any old tool. To rectify this mistake Nathaniel took the axe to his desk. He placed it down in front of his chair, immediately after he took out a large set of tools from his desk used to maintain such items. From the tool kit, Nathaniel put a pair of gloves on and began to inspect the damages of which there were a few. The two most concerning matters of it all were the axe head that was chipped and the wooden handle that cracked.
Nathaniel shook his head wearily at this because before the axe was worth over 10,000 skrill. An average person makes around 2,000 - 4,000 skrill per year or 6-12+ Skrill per day. The damages Nathaniel did to the weapon made the axe worth only a fraction of its price. Nathaniel was frustrated with his job the constant game he's been playing with other people in high society has made him develop anger issues and because of all the things he constantly goes through he has found little time to let out his anger in a healthy way.
Nathaniel's drive to leave it all behind only grew as he stroked the shaft of the axe handle. But, before he leaves he must see it again the secret that the palace walls contain. He saw it before but only a glimpse he needs a full look before he can embark on his adventure. Nathaniel wanted to leave months ago but that memory of what he saw kept him there and going by the helpful information Lothar unknowingly slipped to him Nathaniel surmise that his time of opportunity has most likely come.
To help confirm the time Nathaniel did a quick check and asked his secretary Clark. Nathaniel picked up a phone by his side and called him. It wasn't long before his secretary answered and Nathaniel said, "Clark tell me what time Mr.Lothar is scheduled to meet King Edward S. Ferrise?".
Unprepared for the questions Clark rushed to find out, "one moment sir it will just take a moment to find out". A few minutes passed and it wasn't long before Clark had an answer.
"Mr. Hawkins it appears as though Mr. Lothar isn't scheduled to meet the king at all".
"Then at what times is he free?".
"Umm, that would be in the afternoon during his lunch and at night around 13 o'clock when he's off work".
"And what about the king?".
"The king as you know schedule is completely full the only blank spaces are times when he's resting which is around the same time Mr. Lothar is off.
"Thank you Clark you've been a great help and before I forget schedule a repairman to fix my wall the wood seems to have rotten".
"No problem sir, if that's all have a nice day".
Nathaniel hanged up the call and smiled delightfully he has been working at the palace for a while so he knows people's habits and how to track their movements. The king has a ton of off the books meetings that can easily be found out when they're taking place just by how his schedule flops around and magically realigns with another. Nathaniel gazed at a grandfather clock in his room and shivered with expectation as the time of the meeting slowly ticked forward. As the time slowly drew near Nathaniel spent it fixing the antique axe in his hands.
