An informational on goblin society.
There are multiple subspecies of goblins the lowest of which are lesser goblins, sometimes referred to as little goblins. Lesser goblins tend to only wear loincloths if they wear anything at all, and have an average intelligence level of a four year old human. The lesser goblins are driven solely by the base needs of hunger and reproduction. Since their are no female goblins in order to reproduce goblins must mate with females of other races and species. Out of possible goblins mates, none are willing participants, and most are kidnapped from villages that are near forests or cave systems. Lesser Goblins are fiercely attracted to females and can usually smell them from a good distance away. In battles the lesser goblin is nothing to fear so long as it is alone, however in a group of three or more they prove to be quite dangerous. often in battle if there are females present on the battle field or nearby it lesser goblins will ignore the males and charge straight for the females. This is all in an effort to mate with the female as many time as they can. lesser goblins only use their claws and small stones as weapons. Lesser goblins have a life span of fifteen years, and when they manage to mate with a female, the female might give birth to as many as six goblins in a birthing.
Next up the ladder from the lesser goblins are hobgoblins. Hobgoblins are almost the same size as a full grown human male, and have an intelligence level equal to a ten year old human. Hobgoblins wear armored jerkins, and will use swords and axes occasionally paired with a small round shield. While driven by the same needs as the lesser goblin, the hobgoblin poses more of threat even when alone. Hobgoblins have also been shown to resist their base needs when in battle or danger. As such they will not ignore males when in combat and tend to fight in pairs of two with occasional lesser goblins hanging around them. Hobgoblins are usually the ones who do the kidnapping when goblins raid villages. Hobgoblins have a lifespan of up to twenty five years, if they manage to mate with a female up to three goblins will be born each time. Mating with a female from a lesser goblin and hobgoblins always results in a pregnancy. Goblin pregnancies only take one month to fully grow the goblin children. A strong enough mate can give the goblins up to five births.
Next up the ladder from that point are dire goblins. Dire goblins are the same size as hobgoblins, however their skin is completely snow white and they are as intelligent as some humans. As such the motives of dire goblins is unknown as they very rarely are able to successfully mate with results of pregnancy. Dire goblins normally wear armored pants and use ranged weapons and poisons as they are not as strong as hobgoblins. Due to their use of poisons the dire goblins have a lifespan of fifteen years, if they don't accidently kill themselves with their own poison. And they are always a danger whether alone or in a group. During battles dire goblins will sacrifice lesser goblins in order to kill their targets with out hesitation.
Above that level of goblins are the shamans. The shamans are the same size as lesser goblins and as intelligent an average human. Shamans are incredibly rare and most details about them are unknown. Here is what is known, shamans wear full hooded robes and carry a crooked sorcery staff wherever they go. Shamans use magic that seems to originate from some sort of evil benefactor, as such they are an extreme danger. Their role within a goblin horde is still unknown as well.
At this point on the totem pole we get the champion goblins. Champions are twice the size of an average human and wear sectional iron armor over the vital parts of their party. While only as intelligent as a hobgoblin the champions are very rare and immensely stronger. Champions use greatswords and warhammers as weapons, sometimes they are duel wielded, mostly however one handed so they can grab and throw lesser goblins across the battlefield. Champions are obviously a tremendous threat, and will often be the leader of a horde.
Finally, at the very top are the goblin kings. In recorded history only five goblin kings have been discovered, and none have been defeated. The goblin kings wear full body iron armor adorned with with cloth, and a nice cape. Kings are the largest goblins discovered and stand three times taller and larger than the average human. The goblin kings have been recorded to use ultra greatswords and hammers. Both champion goblins and Goblins kings are suspected to be incapable of mating with anything other than giants. A goblin king was once recorded leading a horde with five champions under his rule. All other information on Goblin Kings is unknown.
