"I won't say no if it's Master though…"
Veia murmured silently. Rant Valo didn't quite hear it as the sound of the waterfall was loud.
"What's that?"
"Nothing! I'll catch more red fish for Master!"
Veia smiled at Rant Valo and went to the river bank to catch more fish. She watched the water carefully, making sure that the fish could not escape.
Rant Valo could only hold the fish in his hands as he watched Veia catch another one. He wanted to know what she said earlier but if she said that it was nothing then he could only shrug his shoulders.
"Pam!"
Veia thrust the sharp branch with a loud shout. The water was calmer this time as Veia was more prepared this time. She lifted the sharp branch or rather, the wooden spear high into the air and laughed excitedly.
"I caught another one, Master! This is so easy! Hahaha!"
Veia who was still covered by the dark cloak was already wet from head to toe. She moved the tip of the spear to Rant Valo and Rant Valo took the fish to his hands. He let down on the grass the already dead fish on his hands and held tightly onto the other.
"I'll kill this one so you can catch fish faster."
Rant Valo unsheathed his knife and stabbed at the fish's head. It destroyed the fish's brain which made it promptly die. Rant Valo set it beside the first one on the grass.
"Why did you stab its brain, Master?"
Veia was curious. She couldn't understand why he had to do that.
"So it does not escape. It happened to me once before. And it also makes the fish last longer."
Rant Valo explained to Veia. He could still remember that time when he first spearfished and the fishes he caught just flopped back into the water even though there's a hole in their body.
The struggle of a fish when it is out of the water stresses its body out. This makes the meat of the fish much easier to spoil so it is a way for you to preserve a fish longer if you kill it immediately. Rant Valo learned this from a passing merchant in exchange for a couple of fishes.
"Ooohhhh! Master is so knowledgeable!"
Veia was once again wowed by Rant Valo's knowledge of this type of activity. It made her choice of pursuing her Master more and more appealing. If she could live forever with such a reliable master husband in the future she would be the happiest half-vampire, half-succubus wife ever!
"It's just something I learned from someone else."
Rant Valo shook his head. He didn't think that he deserves the praise since he got it through barter with a merchant.
"Don't be humble, Master! You're amazing!"
Veia wanted Rant Valo to have more confidence and pride in himself.
"Yeah, okay."
Rant Valo just nodded his head at her. He himself knows that it's not something to be proud of.
"Mmm! I'll catch more fish for Master!"
Veia was satisfied with Rant Valo's response and went back to fishing.
A dozen minutes later, a large pile of red fishes was now on the grass beside the river. Rant Valo was looking at it apprehensively.
"V-veia, aren't you catching a little bit too many?"
Rant Valo's voice was shaky. He felt like they were catching all the red fishes available in this river. He didn't think that it would be good for the environment if all the red fishes just disappeared.
"Don't worry, Master! We still got plenty to catch!"
Veia just shook her head and reassured Rant Valo. If you look at the river right now, it was practically like she hadn't caught any fish. It was still the same as before. Besides, she's also having fun!
"Oh! You guys are catching fish! Gah! So many!"
Floriana Sabina walked over. She was taken aback by the large pile of red fishes. It was like she just walked into a fish market or something.
"Master… stop her."
Rant Valo pleaded from the side. At this rate, Veia would never stop catching any red fishes until they are extinct from this river.
"Hmph! Why do I have to listen to you?"
Floriana Sabina turned her head with a snort. She was the master here.
"Please?"
Rant Valo did the ultimate attack of saying 'please'. 95% out of a time it would work for anyone.
"Hmph! I'm not doing this for you or anything! Veia, stop fishing, let's cook now!"
Floriana Sabina blushed and stopped Veia. Veia's pointed ears twitched when she heard the word 'cook'.
"Like the fish last time!?"
Veia ran over to the two of them and asked with excitement. That fish from before was very delicious. It was the best cooked fish she had in her life!
"That's right, Veia. It will be even more delicious!"
Rant Valo nodded his head at her. He was confident that this red fish will be even more delicious than that Spirit Fish from before.
"Oohh!"
Veia's eyes shone from excitement.
"Anyways, Master. What kind of fish is this?"
Rant Valo looked at Floriana Sabina and asked. Since she knew instantly what a Spirit Fish was then she ought to know what this faster fish even is.
"Hmm… A Red Flash Fish, Red Lightning Fish, Red Char Fish? Could this fish move fast underwater?"
Floriana Sabina wasn't sure herself. She had only read descriptions of it. She hasn't seen one before in her life.
"Yes, it's very fast. Right, Veia?"
Rant Valo nodded his head and turned to Veia for confirmation.
"It's speed is okay."
Veia could catch the fish with a bit of effort so she doesn't think that it was 'that' fast.
"Then it should be a Red Flash Fish. It should be like a flash of red light when it swims when you try to catch it. At other times, they just swim in a relaxed manner."
Floriana Sabina explained to both of them since she was the most knowledgeable here.
"But it's slow though…"
Veia wanted to object since it was not as 'fast' as her description.
"Enough of that, Veia! Let's go, cook!"
Rant Valo said to Veia in excitement. Just the name of the fish made his mouth water. He can't wait to cook it and give it a taste.
