Hubrid stood stagnant, pondering as to who Haaura was as all eyes sat on him. Suddenly the voice of Regil began to fade from his cluttered mind, replaced by the voice of a woman. He grasped his head as it nearly split in two, bumping into nearby bookshelves as he attempted to grasp reality.
"Young man! Young…"
"..." Hubrid sat inside of an abyss. Darkness enveloped him followed by bitter cold, bringing him into it. It was dark, darker than the darkest black, a testimony to the existence of the void that filled the hollow region of where his soul once laid. Suddenly, the darkness gave way, a light-blue wisp taking its place, illuminating the black wall that plagued Hubrid's mind, revealing images, texts, and statues.
With the room finally lit, Hubrid attempted to explore the area only for something to jerk him backward as he strode toward the wall in front of his eyes. Around his neck were thick shackles. The wisp attempted to help him remove it from his neck to no avail, blue droplets leaking from its ghostly body as its nubby hands went right through it.
Hubrid fell to his back as the chain tugged away at him once again. He attempted to claw away at the ground, revealing that there had been none, to begin with. He eagerly fought against the chain, driven only by his will as the invisible warden continued to shackle him up. The wisp looked at him with sadness, only visible because of its tilted head as it continued to leak light-blue gloop into the abyss.
In a last-ditch effort, Hubrid yanked the chains toward him, freeing him from its grasp momentarily as he stood on his two feet. The linked chains clanked as it fell down, slowly wrangling in the distance as if the chain had been miles long.
The wisp stopped leaking its gloop. With its head held high, it appeared to smile as it held both of its nubs for arms into the air, seemingly cheering him on as it shouted out in undecipherable speech.
"Blrooop!" It shouted out in joy, flying around the abyss the two of them stood in as it shot toward Hubrid, attempting to pull him toward the wall along with it only for its handless arms to fade through him. It began to sulk as it hovered above Hubrid's puzzled face.
Hubrid followed it nonetheless. On the wall were two black figures. One resembling a man, another resembling a woman, larger than all of the other images that sat on the high wall. Hubrid eyed the two figures down, almost recognizing them as his pupils slowly looked downward toward the text that sat at their feet.
"Condemned we are,
Forgiveness so far,
Create those to witness,
Hope they forget us."
The wisp hovered over those words, zooming back in forth as Hubrid's eyes continued going even lower than the text that had been engraved on the wall as he slowly drifted away into a slumber as he continued standing his ground. Out of nowhere, the chain that had once sat on the ground began to pull at Hubrids neck once again.
"Blrrrd?!" The wisp screeched at Hubrid, attempting to awake him as it panicked. The loop secreting from its malleable body fell into Hubrids mouth, making contact unlike the rest of the wisp's attempts. At that moment, the wisp had an idea. It flew over Hubrid and continued leaking goop into his mouth. Hubrid, with his mouth agape, took in each of the droplets as he shook his head back and forth like an animal drying itself.
"Broooop?" The wisp hovered intently, watching over Hubrid as he appeared to come back. He scoured the room again before falling asleep again as the chain dragged him ever further from the room.
"Brllllloooooooooooooop…" The wisp cried out as it could no longer follow Hubrid. It bumped itself against an invisible barrier, trying to breach it to no avail. It struggled with each attempt, seemingly harming itself, with each crash being harder than the last.
"Vroooooo!" It pleaded as it smacked into the glass-like wall before it, howling through the hollow hall as Hubrid escaped its vision.
With a final tug of the chain, Hubrid was torn away from the abyss, back into the library, still asleep with the mark of a collar around his neck that beamed red, pulsating with each breath Hubrid took.
"Kid, are you okay?! What happened to you?" Arry uttered out in worry, examining Hubrids lacerated neck as Mwop panicked, ending their cheerful celebration as Hubrid wavered back and forth, nearly falling onto the ground. She began to hyperventilate as she stared at Hubrids bruised neck. Arry turns his head from Hubrid to Mwop, noticing her panicked breathing.
"Mwop, calm down! Keep your head- I-I mean stay calm! We need to help him!" Arry spoke to her as she fell to the ground, curling into a fetal position as she rolled on the ground.
"I can't-- I-I-" Mwop stuttered in between her gasps for air, fainting onto the charred oak ground as her rolling ceased.
"Damnit!" Arry shouted, standing in between both Hubrid and Mwop with frustration visible on his face as he nearly pulled out his light-orange hair.
"Flooooooooo!" A voice shouted out in a high-pitched tone. The wisp escaped from Hubrid's innards, flying across the library as if it were the wind itself.
"Foooooo!" It shouted, flying through Hubrid, Mwop, and the burnt remains of the once great library. With each bookshelf it passed by, books flew upward back to where they originally came from. Both Hubrid and Mwop awoke from their slumbers as Hubrid touched his neck in confusion whilst Mwop jolted her hands toward hers in haste.
"No! No! Lin-" Mwop shouted with her eyes still closed, punching the empty air with her two balled fists in a flurry as she sat on the ground. She regains her senses, stopping herself mid-sentence as she scanned the room. The wisp continued flying around the library, restoring the ash of burnt pages back into full-length books as it drifted across the air seamlessly.
Even the black, coal-like wood was restored to its former glory as it swiftly shot around the room. Hubrid stared at it, following it closely as it shott around the room like a stray ball before shooting back into Hubrid's chest, followed by the sounds of a heavy chain. The chain rangled endlessly, clanking against metal as the wisp screeched out with gaiety in its cheerful voice.
"Goiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii…" It shouted as its voice slowly decayed.
'Are you okay, Hubrid!? I couldn't connect to you! what happened!?' Regil shouted with his booming voice, catching Hubrid off guard.
"I fell asleep, sorry," Hubrid retorted as he groggily yawned with the stretch of his arms.
'... Never mind that, how are you feeling?'
"Tired," Hubrid stated, falling to the ground face-first as he began to sleep once again.
