Chapter 32 - Nathan Cairo

Nathan had taken it upon himself to join their merry band to tour the market. There was just one problem...

"Bonanza! Bonanza!! Bonanza!!! Genuine Life Force Pill, you will never see one like this again in your life. Made by an Earth ranked Alchemist, Buy three and get one free."

"Raizel do you want one? I heard that the Life force pill is really good for cultivation." Nathan asked.

Raizel looked over, he could not even perceive any spiritual energy from the Pill.

"Come and take a look. Freshly Captured Longhorn Cows for sale. Going at a low price. Don't spend your time walking when you can be sleeping on a ride. One for a hundred spirit stones...very cheap price."

Nathan heard it and seemed even happier than the seller, "Eh... It is really cheap. Do you want to buy one? Or perhaps you prefer walking. I read somewhere that walking every day is good for the body. What do you think?"

Raizel looked at the cows that looked like they were about to succumb to death at any moment. How were these freshly captured?

This was the problem. Nathan seemed to have made it his mission for Raizel to speak a few words and so he chattered around, pulling him into random conversations.

However, every thought Raizel could ignore it, Austin could not take the chirping anymore.

"Why are you still here?" He almost barked out.

Nathan seemed to find him entertaining as he gave him an amused smile, "Being a good citizen. I was born in Harton, it is only right I help tourists out by showing them around."

Austin took a deep breath before he forced a kind smile, "Thank you very much for your help. We can take it from here."

"It is no problem. I love helping people. There are so many more places I need to show you guys."

"We don't need your help."

Nathan placed a hand on his heart, his face was crestfallen, "I understand." He then gave a low chuckle, " How would you accept the help of someone like me? I have always felt something was just wrong with me. Everyone hates me. My mother, my father, my six brothers and seven sisters...I don't know why so I try my best to help but still..but still." A lone tear escaped his eyes, "Even strangers..they all hate me, maybe I should just...I should just..."

"You can stay." Raizel said.

The crestfallen look disappeared as Nathan's cheeks turned red. He covered his face with his hands while muttering, "So good. I can't take it anymore."

Austin watched the entire spectacle speechless. His hands twitched, he wanted to take his new whip and try it out on this man. He lightly touched the lash of the whip while taking a deep breath.

Nathan quickly calmed down, his voice turned professional as he stated, "My name is Nathan Cairo. I am a doctor. " He passed them a card and continued, "I quit last week so it doesn't matter much. I will be working as a tour guide this week. Allow me to make your holidays unforgettable."

And he did.

His declaration of being born in Harton might be false but he did know every crook of the market. He took them through the markets, making stops at different stores.

Raizel had surprisingly found a store that sold Buddhist items and treasures. The woman claimed to have found them at the ruins of a Buddhist sect. Raizel had bought all of the zen lamps for a very cheap price.

There are some treasures like that. Treasures that might be incredibly useless to one person and incredibly useful to another.

The Zen lamps were like that. It did not add to a person's power or provide some kind of help so it was useless to them. However, to someone who had lost a beloved one, the zen lamp was a treasure.

Years back, Raizel had lit the Zen lamp at the tomb of his Master. When he lost his entire sect, he and Lucas had lit over ten Zen Lamps for their sect members in hopes that they would find their path to the Yellow Springs. Now...

Raizel held the bag containing the twenty Zen lamps tighter before he kept them in his storage ring.

After touring the market, Nathan took them to a Casino.

"Casinos are a terrible place. However, it is a place to have fun if you have self-control." His voice was oddly serious.

"If Autumn Casinos were not a must-visit in Harton, I won't bring you here. So before we enter, we need to establish some ground rules."

Austin lifted a brow, "Ground rules?"

"Yes. We will stay for more than two hours and we will spend not more than 1000 spirit stones, no matter what. Is that okay?" Even though he was asking both of them, his entire gaze was on Raizel.

"Fair enough." Austin muttered.

Raizel just nodded. Nathan gave him a disappointed look before his eyes lit up again.

"Do you have enough money?"

"Yes." An impatient voice answered.

Nathan just rolled his eyes before saying, " I was not asking you."

Austin looked at the annoying mundane who was fast rising among the ranks of those he hated the most. He took a deep breath while he constantly thought of how terrible the prisons are.

On the other hand, Nathan who had gotten no reply from Raizel proceeded to lead them into the Autumn Casino.

The doors to the Casino opened as they came here. The cool breeze brought the scent of wine to Raizel's noise. Raizel sighed at the noisy place. He had never liked gambling houses.

The atmosphere made it easy to indulge. It was like a bottomless pit that never let people in its grasp go.

Nathan picked a bag of dried fruits and passed it to Raizel. Seeing his confused gaze, he winked, "The desserts here are free. Now where to go first?"

He introduced the various games. Pointing out the card games, the mahjong, the slot machine, the Blackjack, the roulette and the Box Ponzi."

Austin, who had never entered a Casino, was fascinated by the various sights."Let's try the Box Ponzi."

Nathan looked back at him before chuckling. "En. Let's try it."

He had a feeling that it would be lots of fun.
