The ocean floor glowed with an array of colors that seemingly danced in the darkness of the Deep. They were still too far away to see shapes clearly, but the brilliance and range of hues was breathtaking. Like watching a work of art come to life.
As they came closer to the trench floor, Serenity could see a vast variety of corals, sponges, sea urchins, and many other phosphorescent ocean species. It was all centered around an enormous lake of dense, cold salt water.
Most of the species were far larger than their Earth counterparts, as far as she knew, anyway. Even Earth's oceans were still a mystery..
"I wonder if home has anything like this somewhere," Serenity said out loud as her excitement grew.
