As if she had made sense for the first time, Trixie sealed her lips.
"The groom is coming please be ready", shouted the gay wedding organizer. He then went inside to get the bride ready.
"The groom is here", the organizer said to Mei who was already getting anxious. How incredible her groom is. He bought a wife and planned on running away? Or he was just playing games with her.
They did some retouch on her make-up and took her to the main entrance of the hall where the red carpet is laid for her to walk on.
"Yes, get the groom by the altar and we will begin the entourage in 2 minutes", the organizer was talking to someone over his headset.
Mei's heart is pounding so hard and she can't think straight. All she knows is she will have to walk down the carpet and meet her groom at the altar for the first time. She was imagining a person in a wheelchair may be, or with a mask to hide his hideous appearance. She was amused with the ideas going through her mind. Who knows what the future brings? She sighed heavily when they attached the veil to her head.
She is wearing a white ball gown, the material is generally made of lace, cotton, and silk. The tube top is decorated with sequins and beads. There are also beads scattered from her waist down. Her hair was pulled into a bun with a few strands on both sides of her face which highlighted her long slender neck. Her make-up was just light but due to her natural rosy complexion, it did not require much make-up to show her real beauty.
"Ready?", the organizer asked.
"Father of the bride, be here", be here.
"We are ready to go out", he said to someone on the other line of his phone.
The grand piano played the processional tune and the entourage started to march when the door of the hall opened.
There are only a few people in the hall. Just their closest of kin and friends. The officiating priest is waiting at the center of the altar. She creased her brows when she saw the groom. From where she stood, he looked very familiar. She is not sure if she is disappointed or if she felt lucky because the groom waiting for her at the altar is not crippled, certainly not hideous but he looked like a Greek god. Her heart started to summersault. The closer she gets, the more it becomes clear to her -it is him! She almost faltered if not for her father beside her. How can she forget that face? It has been engraved in her memory since that night.
She saw the man beside him smile at her. He is also good-looking and tall but he is the boyish type, he seems to be approachable and friendly while her groom is the scary type. His jaw is locked, his eyes fixed on her and her brows are wrinkled. He must have remembered her by the way he looks at her. A smirk came out of his mouth.
"Xander", her father said to Xander and gave her hand to him. She hesitantly extended her hands but his father tightened his grip on her.
"Mr. Benitez", Xander replied and they shook hands. He quickly looked at her and guided her to the front of the altar and never said a word to her. The ceremony started which she absent-mindedly followed. Her mind drifted back to that night.
At the bar.
Mei and Cheela walked into the bar at around 30 past 8 in the evening. The music is so loud and it was packed with people but it did not bother her. She was here for the sole purpose of drowning herself with alcohol to forget Jay. To forget to drown the pain she feels with alcohol.
Since the bar is packed with people, they just stand there at the bar and order tequila. She took shots after shots of tequila.
"Hey", Cheela tried to stop her and take the shot glass from her after she had 5 shots.
"No, no, no lesh drink and shelebrate", she hid the shot glass away from Cheela. She can no longer talk straight, her head feels heavy and the surrounding is spinning that's why she lowered her head towards the bar.
"You already have enough", Cheela has taken 2 shots and she feels drunk already.
But Mei is already so drunk and half-sleeping with her head on the bar.
"Do you, Mei Benitez, take Xander Tan as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part, according to God's holy ordinance?" the priest's voice echoed within the hall which startled Mei.
"Ahm…." she panicked.
"Miss Benitez?", asked the priest.
"Yes", she said nervously. After knowing who her groom is, she became more anxious compared to earlier when she imagined her future husband to be hideous or crippled.
"Do you, Xander Tan, take Mei as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part, according to God's holy ordinance?" the priest asked Xander.
"Yes", he said in a taunting voice. He gave her a blank stare and smirked.
"I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss your bride", the priest said signaling the end of the ceremony.
He grabbed her by the waist which urged the small crowd to cheer.
"Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss!" the crowd cheered.
"So this is actually why you drugged me and climbed to bed with me? Was it insurance? You think, we will not take what was taken from us and just let your family go?", he whispered to her ear sensually which made the crowd crazy, and chanted for them to kiss.
Her body became cold but her face turned blood red out of anger. How dare him.
"How…" she swallowed the words she wanted to say because Xander already bridged the gap between them and gave her a torrid kiss.
"Whoa, Xander is a little excited. Reserve it for tonight" said someone from the crowd.
