CH19: NEXT MOVE.
"So, do you think the object is not that valuable and this guy is just out for his vendetta?" Colonel Balogun asked. However, before Korede could answer, Mary held his shirt by the neck
"If you knew all this, WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING? The mission could have been called off" She roared in his face
Korede stands at 192cm with a somewhat large physique whilst Mary stands at 183cm with a thin streamlined physique. So, although Mary was roaring in anger and should look threatening, because of their body difference not to mention her beauty, Korede didn't even flinch. He merely thought she looked cute.
'Now I've caught a glimpse of what that guy sees in her. I feel your pain, my friend.' Korede thought. He almost laughed but was able quickly to control himself. (1)
He ignored her and answered Colonel Balogun's question, "I think the part about the crashed object being valuable and a client sending him to retrieve it was real." He then turned to Mary, "Even if it wasn't and this was all a set up from the beginning, because a nuke may be involved, the mission must continue even if we knew it was a trap."
Mary released Korede's collar. Even without him saying anything, she already knew the answer to her question. She just needed an outlet for her emotions and he just happened to make himself the perfect scapegoat.
Korede straightened his collar before continuing,
"As I said earlier, the NDz don't know they're dealing with the Nigerian army. So, I think the Emissary probably told them something like 'what I want crashed but I have competitors also going after it.' So, as part of the deal, the NDz would help get hold of the 'mercenaries' his competitors will be sending"
"Then what do you think is his endgame?" Colonel Balogun asked
Korede didn't answer at first because he was speculating and hoping he was wrong. He, however, knew he had to say it anyways.
"He'll probably make a deal with the Haram boys to, not only give them the nuke, but also the means to get it on base. I don't need to tell you that there're secret passages in and out of a military base. The people that use them the most are… Elite Special Forces." Korede drew a breath before continuing "This way he kills multiple birds with one stone. One, he completes his client's contract. Two, he uses the NDz and Haram boys to blow up one of our bases using our secret passageway. It's, in his opinion, poetic justice. Three, there would be no evidence linking back to him as everything was done by both NDz and the Haram Boys. All we'll have is speculation and no proof."
"Even if everything you said ends up being wrong, we still need to get our people back." Colonel Balogun said after everyone took a moment to digest Korede's words. "So tell me you have a plan to get our people back."
"Of course I do. I was the one who told Alpha 1 to surrender after all." Korede said confidently.
"Out with it, kid" Colonel Balogun said as he was starting to get annoyed with his brother's Quirk that likes to put everyone in suspense.
"I recalled him telling me some time ago how he always kept a tracker in the side pocket of his backpack. So I asked him to drop a tracker on the leader of the hostiles, which he did. So we just need to follow the tracker." Korede revealed
What Second Lieutenant Kunle Balogun-Keshinro had taken out of his bag before he threw it on the floor was exactly the tracker that Korede was talking about. When the man in the suit was excitedly tying up Second Lieutenant Kunle Balogun-Keshinro's hands, the latter had put the tracker in his suit.
"Why didn't you say so when you gave the SitRep, we could have started tracking them." Colonel Balogun roared.
"Negative, commander. Like I said before, I believe HQ has been compromised. I think this information should stay between us until we can confirm otherwise. I was hoping you could remove the tracker and our comms from the systems completely. There's far too much at stake otherwise. Besides, there is no need to hurry. With the amount of caution the Emissary has displayed, I expect them to drive around aimlessly for a while before going to the location of the meet, which am sure is close by." Korede explained.
"I can do that. I hope you're right kid. I'll leave everything to you. Keep me informed of your progress." Colonel Balogun said as he dropped the call.
The Bravo team members looked at Korede weirdly. To think this guy had all these thoughts in his head while they all thought this was a simple mission. Korede saw the look on their faces and merely shrugged.
He brought out a gadget from his backpack. It was the monitoring device for the tracker. As Korede expected, it was moving all over the place. Twenty minutes later though, it stopped its aimless movements and headed in a specific direction. After another ten minutes, it stopped.
Korede took note of the location where the tracker stopped. It was in a place just on the outskirts of PH. "Alright, they've arrived at the location. They probably don't expect us to be coming for them. So, let's use that to our advantage. Let's go get our people back."

AUTHOR'S NOTE/ RAMBLINGS
1 I felt I should add this in to reduce some of the serious atmosphere/vibe that was going on.
