CH1083: Defending Luuq Town
Luuq Town, Western End of the Juba River, South-West Somalia.
Time: 2:00 am.
Thanks to the efforts of the Intel Analysts attached to Horus Marine Command, the Marines based in Baidoa were able to find out about the SSL's attack on Luuq pre-emptively.
The Marines were able to arrive in Luuq before the planned early morning attack on the town.
Fortunately for the Marines, Luuq was historically an important military settlement. Taking advantage of its natural geography, the Marines or rather 'the Somali Youth Army' was able to build defence installations to protect the town.
The Juba river bends or meanders its way through the South-West area of Somalia. One particular curve formed from this was particularly exaggerated, forming something akin to a horseshoe curve around the island in the centre.
This island formed became the area of the original Luuq town.
