The drivers quickly got back into the Humvees and drove it away, out of sight nearby. Meanwhile, the other Marines got to work removing the corpses of the downed hostiles from the checkpoint.
Once that was done, they checked the checkpoint for obvious bullet holes. They had been very careful when they opened fire previously, to not leave obvious bullet holes on the front of the checkpoint structure.
They blocked the bullet holes they found with different in-place obstructions.
"All clear!"
After confirming all the obvious signs of a battle were taken care of, the group reached for prepared bags where they found clothes which they wore over their combat uniform.
