Chapter 19 - Thank you for everything

Lisandro's father toured me around the fascinating mansion that was built thousand years ago. It was impossible to happen, but even Lisandro told me that he has been living for 1143 years.

That only proved that their family wasn't ordinary human beings. They probably kept their real identities as they lived a peaceful life until this moment.

It was hard to believe that people like them could live that long. As far as I knew, a typical human could only live for hundreds of years. Sometimes humans dead at a very young age caused by diseases and infections.

At first, it sounded like a legend—an imaginative story, but as time went by, I'd slowly understood their perspectives, the way they had lived in peace was something valuable to them.

Out of the blue, we reached the last destination of the mansion. Mr. Realm turned around as he faced me with a strange expression on his face.

A warm feeling had vanished as it was being replaced with a dark, devouring sensation that hypnotized me.

He then smiled widely, a scary smile to be exact. His golden-brown eyes were covered with darkness as they changed their color effortlessly.

The honesty has gone and I didn't realize that I was trembling because of fear as we stood at the peakiest part of the house.

He said, "I like you for my son, Andy."

It was a certain statement, but why did he say those words suddenly? We were on the rooftop and the strong wind blew us at that moment.

I was scared to make a move as I felt that I would fall to the ground. It could kill me. It could break my bones and rip my flesh into tiny pieces.

A short smile flashed onto my lips while I looked at his eyes. I'd tried to speak, ask him a question, but I couldn't do so.

"As his parents, we will never allow someone who will just hurt our son. Who will use his money, connection, power and abuse his love! We will never let you leave him behind once you disclose the truth about our real identity."

He was serious. He looked damn serious and I'd only wished to vanish.

"W-what are you trying to say, Mr. Realm? Why… why would I do that?" I asked him stutteringly. I could feel how my knees trembled and goosebumps all over my body.

Mr. Realm slowly walked closer scared me. Honestly, I didn't imagine myself talking to my future father-in-law, not like this.

Every step he was taking almost paralyzed my system and I'd hope Lisandro would come right away.

"Have you ever heard about flesh-eating monsters? The cold-hearted, ruthless creatures that could live thousands of years without getting destroyed?"

Werewolves! Does Mr. Realm believe it too?

That was a question that flashed to my head. Werewolves were only the flesh-eating monsters that I knew. And my grandmother has the same description as to how he defined such creatures.

Before I opened my mouth to answer, I slightly shook my head in agreement. It was rare to meet people who were only interested in beasts.

"To be honest, my late grandmother always told me about them. She said monsters like them are real, that they truly exist in this world!"

It was a relief. Talking about werewolves made me feel comfortable. It seemed like a remedy that took away the fear in me.

Until Mr. Realm clapped his hands and burst into laughter. It was strange, but he looked happy.

"Are you saying that you're not afraid of werewolves?"

"Probably yes!" I replied confidently.

A long silence made a gap between us. He then took another step, stopped, and tapped my shoulders gently.

"Welcome to our family, young lady," he said and that was the last words he said before he disappeared like ashes of a corpse.

It indeed shocked me. I'd looked around, called him, but no one answered. Perhaps he was the alpha before or the alpha king who possessed peculiar abilities.

"How did he disappear that way?" I whispered, walking towards the fence that hindered me from falling.

I'd looked up above the warm sky as it witnessed and heard our conversation. It was quietly a perfect moment for me, a special, bright day that I won't forget.

"Andy," he called my name again. This time, it felt good and romantic. Like he has been longing to see me. "Father finally welcomed you to our family, am I right?"

The moment I heard it, I burst into laughter. It was an awkward situation for me but at the same time a memorable memory.

I continued while I remained in my position. I then leaned my arms to the fence, watching the breathtaking view right before us.

"Yes, I'd convinced him that I'm your girlfriend, but—" I paused, and scaring thoughts of her mother came back to my head. "But your mother doesn't like me for you! That only means, I failed."

Even it was only a task, I felt sad for not completing it as we'd discussed earlier. I didn't want to disappoint him as it was only the best way to repay all of my debt.

I then sighed, put my hands to my chest while my heart thumped like it used to.

Nevertheless, Lisandro walked closer and stood right next to me. He seemed calm despite our failure.

"You did a great job today," he started. He slowly reached for my hand and caressed it softly, "It doesn't matter as long as father already liked you!"

"He's more stringent than mother. That's why I'm proud and thankful to you for helping me out!" Lisandro said as he tried to light up my mood.

I thought it wasn't perfect. I thought I'd failed.

"Thank you for everything, Andy. I don't know how to thank you enough—" I cut him off. He shouldn't be the one thanking me. It should be me.

I gasped, "No. No, you don't have to thank me. I should be the one thanking you, Lisandro!" I said as I cupped his face. "Thank you for everything." I gulped and tried to catch my breath.

Suddenly, Lisandro grabbed my head closer and that was only the moment I felt his crimson lips had touched against mine.
