It's finally the last day of the visit - the day all three sides will sign the amended peace agreement. It was mostly the same as what was agreed to during negotiations but in return for additional goods Britania agreed to help in future negotiations with other nations and in return for an agreement to help the other countries should they be invaded Halifax pledged funds to the rebuilding effort.
I was thankful the signing was in the morning right after breakfast. As much as everyone wanted another night of drinking there were still urgent matters back home for everyone to attend to so the guests all left after the signing had concluded.
"I bet you're disappointed to see your precious prince leave." Aidan said when the carriages were out of view.
"O-Osamu? I don't..." I saw that the servants were all scrambling to go back into the castle to avoid Aidans wrath, if only I could do the same.
"And I bet you're angry you have to stay here with me." Aidan says and grabs my wrist.
"What are you talking about?" I say and try to tug my hand away. "Aidan y-you're hurting me."
"Don't lie to me." He said.
"I'm not lying."
He scoffed. "It doesn't matter, you're my wife. Even if you hate me you'll always be mine." He pulled me to him and forced a kiss on my lips. It wasn't sweet like usual but angry. I pushed him away and stared him down.
"What's gotten into you? Why are you acting this way?" I asked.
"Like you don't know." He said then stormed off.
That was it, I had used all my strength for the day. I felt my legs give out and I fell to the ground. I couldn't understand what was happening - I was happy and healthy just a few days ago wasn't I? Was my dream over? Would I be stuck in this nightmare now?
"Your Majesty." Louise says and rushes over to help me. "Let me help you inside."
"I-I'm fine." I said as she helped me to my feet. I felt the same nausea creeping up on me and turned just in time to puke in the grass. That was the last thing I remembered before it all went dark.
When I woke up I was laying down in my bed and I saw the physician, Reggie, looking down at me.
"O-oh Your Majesty." I hear and see Reggie jump back.
I go to sit up and wince from the pain that shoots up my spine.
"D-don't try to sit up or move too much." He says and gently pushes me back down onto the bed.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Louise told me you got sick and passed out in the courtyard. Do you remember that?"
"Oh." I say and sighed. "I remember now."
"You must've overworked yourself with all the guests. Did you eat anything today? What about water?" He asked.
"I-I couldn't eat much but I had a glass of water."
"Are you not feeling well Your Majesty?"
"She has been feeling nauseous for a few days now." Louise said. I looked over to where I heard the voice and saw Louise standing there, looking uncomfortable.
"Have you eaten anything unusual?" He asked.
"I don't think so." I responded.
"She's had a bland diet the past few days. I asked the chef to make sure of it." Perhaps that is why she looked uncomfortable, she asked the chef to alter my food without my permission. But with my nausea I didn't even notice.
"Do you have any other symptoms beside the nausea?" He asked.
"Um, I don't..."
"She's been very tired the past few days and at times disoriented." Louise said, still not able to look my way.
"I suppose I have...I thought I was just overworking myself but..." I said as I looked down.
"Interesting. Your Majesty when was...your last cycle?" He asked and I looked back up at him. I could feel my body temperature rising from such an embarrassing question from a man.
"Oh well, I guess about..." I paused while I thought. "F-five weeks...ago..." I said and pulled the covers up over my face to hide my embarrassment.
"This is wonderful news!" He shouted. "Of course we must have the prophet come by to verify that you are indeed expecting."
"The prophet? That's a crock." I said.
"N-no your majesty, he can tell from your urine if you are with child. I have seen him predict correctly on a dozen different occasions."
"Perhaps we could take the urine from the chamber pot so we can let Her Majesty rest?" Louise asked.
"Y-yes of course." He said.
Aidan burst in the room and made all of us practically jump out of our own skin.
"Oh Your Majesty-" Reggie said but Aidan rushed passed him and to my side.
"Ari." He knelt down and grabbed my hand. "I was so worried."
I saw by the look on his face that he meant it. But it felt bittersweet to me after our last encounter.
"I'm fine." I say and force a smile.
"What happened?" Aidan asked and shot a look at the physician.
