I blinked, cocking my head. Dance? Dance. There is that word again. I wonder what this dance thing is? Well, Mye will tell me soon enough.
"Sure!"
I give Mye and wide smile and grabbed her hand, standing up. She pulled me to where all the black shapes were and for a second I freeze, hissing and my eyes flaring and my tail expanding and whipping in the air above my head in my threatening position. That black mess of shapes and confusion. I don't like it. It isn't like me. It Is Nowhere Near Being Me.
I felt my arm spikes growing back and my horns sharpening and growing in length. I felt something within me rising. It was a bad feeling that was different than the other bad feeling. It was a bad feeling that made me angry and confused and something else. I was keenly aware of everything around me even more so than when I was before or hunting. Yet this more aware wasn't a good thing. It was a bad thing. I Want It To Stop. I WANT IT TO STOP! If I make all these black shapes non-moving, will it stop? Will It Stop!?
I felt a familiar sensation touch my shoulder and I sprung around, my claws springing out and my tail striking...until I stopped when I realized that it was Mye. She was letting out that bad smell again and for some reason, I felt another kind of bad. This was a warm bad, a bad that made me want to run away and hide. I was confused at that. Why would I want to run away? What is happening to me!? I just need to calm myself...Which reminds me...What does calm mean? I don't know anymore. I need to calm myself down. I just need to stop all these bad feelings. That must be what being calm means. To stop the bad feelings.
I felt comfort when Mye touched me and I started to remember all the times that when I was with Mye. When I was with her, I felt comfortable. She helps make me calm. That must be another meaning for calm! So if I want to get calm, then I must stay near Mye.
"A-Ava, are you okay? Av-Ava!?"
I lunged at Mye and burrowed my head into her chest, my tail wrapping around her. For some reason, my body was shaking and I was letting out weird sounds. Was I crying? Somewhere through my ruined memories I suddenly remembered the word crying. Is this what I was doing and what the prey I kill do? I...I don't like it. I don't like this feeling at all. It wasn't a good feeling and it made me feel weak. And Mye, Mye feels so good right now. I mean, she always felt nice and warm, but now it was like something entirely else. It felt like if I let go of her then I will be lost in something cold. Ahh. Cold is another new word too, isn't it?
"A-Ava, are you crying?"
"Y-yes. I don't know what is happening but I feel bad and you feel nice."
I felt that warm bad feeling grow as I was talking but I ignored it. It was nothing when compared to the comfort Mye brings.
"Y-you m-make me feel c-calm so Just Stay Still!"
I raised my voice at the last words since the warm bad feeling grew even worse. My face was extremely warm right now and I had a feeling that it was pink like Mye's at times. Maybe during those times, she was feeling the warm bad feeling? Maybe that is why her cheeks changed color and grew warm.
"....Okay then Ava, I'll stay still."
....
"Ava?"
I looked up and met Mye's eyes. I was feeling very warm and my voice felt like something was crushing it. Despite that, I found the words and forced them out.
"Can you call me Aye when we're alone?"
I forced myself to stay still and continue looking at Mye even though my entire body wanted to run away and hide. That warm bad feeling was almost to the point where it couldn't be ignored anymore.
....
When Ava looked at me and asked to be called the nickname that I made for her, I came to one conclusion. She was dangerous. Not only was she a deadly predator and a great fighter but she can be extremely ridiculously cute as well. Her look right now, even if she was crying and her face a bright red color with a rosy tint in her glowing yellow eyes, was cuter than a puppy. If looks could kill, then Ava would have killed me right here and now.
"S-sure Av-Aye."
Aye smiled, her eyes closed before she burrowed her head back into my chest, I never had big breasts but somehow she managed to bury her head in them perfectly. It was...this entire thing is kinda nice. Heh heh heh heh. I could get used to this.
Wait Wait WAIT!
What the hell was I thinking!? I blinked and studied the quivering figure of Aye. She was sobbing. Her disguise was still on but her tail wasn't short any longer. It was back to its original black color and wrapped around me, touching me in some places unlike before where it was wrapped around me but in a way that it wasn't touching me.
I'm not going to try and bullshit the fact that when Aye spun around ready to attack she scared me. But I also noticed that there was a visible look of fear in her eyes. It was the first time I saw fear in her. In fact, this is the first time I've ever seen Aye look shaken. Right now she looks exactly like a scared little girl. I guess she technically is. But regardless, this right here made me realize that despite being a killer who lacks humanity, Aye is still a child who has more problems than the average person. If I were in her shoes, I guess I would be just like her. She has almost no memories at all, was never taught morals, and thinks that most living things are prey. The only difference I guess between her and other Zenars is that she kept her intelligence and since she is more human than the other Zenars, she actively takes pleasure in others' suffering. Thinking about it like that makes me realize that she is still quite a monster.
But, she's my monster I guess.
I start petting her and the sobbing started to die down. Soon enough it died down altogether and a low purring sound came out instead. She also stopped shivering and her tail slowly started wrapping around me, actually touching me. It felt rough yet smooth at the same time. At first, I thought that the spikes were on the wrong side until I noticed that both ends have them. The only reason why I wasn't feeling them was that they went soft when they touched my skin and bent down like a bristle before becoming hard and sharp again.
Before anything else could happen I heard someone, probably a girl by the sound of it, scream. I turned around and saw Sophie on the floor, clutching her head. Standing in front of her was a chubby man wearing a white sleazy jacket and a gold necklace around his neck. He looked handsome but as handsome as a fat man with a disgusting look in his eyes could be. I felt Aye's tail slack before uncurling around me as her attention went on what was happening too. I took once glance at her and saw that she was staring at the fat man with an unreadable expression, her cheeks still wet from crying.
I ran off towards Sophie but before I could get there, a tall skinny guy with a big adam's apple stepped forward and kicked her in the head before grabbing her and tossing her to a nearby blonde woman. She caught her and I felt her gaze turn towards me. She smirked.
Dill and Bretta joined me and we stood in front of the fat guy and his crew of seven. All of them were clearly above age and all of them looked at me and Bretta with a slobbish and hungry gaze.
"Let Her Go!" I yelled, taking a step forward. I was regretting not having the emblem of my father with me. If I had that on these guys would piss themselves before running away or beg me that it was all just a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, I wasn't and I could tell these thugs weren't going to listen or take me seriously at all.
"Or else what, little princess. You're gonna cry? Huh?"
The fat man started wiping his eyes, imitating someone crying. It ticked me off enough that I almost punched him. Dill grabbed me before I could though.
"Listen, you do know that you aren't getting away with this, right? There are cameras all over here. Do you really want to make things worse?"
Despite the calm tone Dill had, I could tell that he wanted to tear their throats out. His eyes shone with anger yet his facial expression remained calm.
The fat guy chuckled before taking a step forward.
"Listen here, kiddo. I can tell ya what's going to happen. You see, I know you wanna fight me. You wanna rip my throat out, I can tell."
He leaned forward, his smile growing wider.
"But that ain't gonna happen. You see, none of these cameras are actually working, and the gang that I work for? They're all over this place. If any of ya kiddos spread the word, we'll gut ya. Now if ya don't want to be hurt, scram and cry to ya mommy."
I winced. What he was saying was true...but not for me. Still, even if I know I can get them all jailed if I turn back now, I still want to save Sophie. She is my friend and I ain't a jerk who relies on my status.
I felt a sudden presence to my left and looked down to see Aye. Her tail was waving in the air yet she made no move. I remember what she was told by the scientist. Even if she wants to, she won't kill them.
"Ohh Shit! Look at that! We have ourselves a mutant."
I hissed when I heard that voice. It came from one of the thugs but it sounded racists as all heck. The fat guy turned and noticed Aye who was currently sitting down like a dog. He shuddered slightly when he met her yellow eyes but still winked at her. Aye scowled at that, her teeth slightly becoming sharper.
"Oh yeah! Would ya look at that. We've got ourselves a bonafide mutant here. Pretty cute, too!"
He whistled and Aye flinched before speaking.
"You're voice sounds bad."
I could tell that if Aye wasn't wearing her disguise, her horns would be flat and pointed back like a cat's. Her tail was swaying faster and faster, the grey color scheme and the short length were short, it was still menacing. Finally, it arched back like a scorpion for a split second before going back to swaying. I am guessing that Doctor Pallapine told her that doing her threat posture was a no-go. It was, after all, something a Zenar does.
Which meant that before, when Aye did that posture, she must have been really scared. So far, Aye was really good at listening to directions and even orders.
I shook my head and focused back on the fat guy who was laughing with his gang.
"Ooh. Looks like we got ourselves a tough and wild one. But don't worry, we'll train ya and soon you will be howling and begging for it too."
He started to thrust his hips with no confusion as to what he is talking about. Well, Aye looked confused. She cocked her head before her attention shifted to Sophie. Aye probably won't act since she barely knows them. In fact, in her eyes, they are probably just shaped with no real difference between anyone else. She has no real reason to do anything for them, let alone break orders.
"New deal. We are taking the mutant and,"
He pointed at me.
"the princess over there. If not, we will start killing your families one by on-"
Aye seemed to have been in thought but she suddenly stiffened and took a step forward, her claws digging into the ground and causing it to crack. The word that left her mouth was familiar and still the same still I was surprised by how perfectly she made the word sound like a snarl.
"MINE!"
Everything seemed to stop at that moment. Everyone looked at Aye whose's tail was slowly turning black and her teeth which slowly went back to being fangs. Then the fat man took a step forward and leaned down and looked at Aye directly in her eyes.
"Or Else What?"
Aye smashed her tail down but the ground didn't crack the ground. She must be really holding back.
"And I'm going to ruin you're princess and you. I'm going to make you scream so loud that you're going to be numb for-"
"Ego satis habuit sunt."
I was stunned by the sudden language Aye spoke and even more so when I recognized that it was Latin. Then the next moment she stepped forward, going on her two legs, and took off her sunglasses. Judging by how only the fat guy started screamed, Aye must have done it at an angle that only he could have seen her real eyes. Then everything was a blur. I caught Sophie as she was tossed at me by Aye before she disappeared again. I barely followed her movements. In the next four seconds, everyone, including the blonde girl, was on the ground, bleeding and crying. I even saw a bone jutting out of her arm. Aye was standing on top of the fat guy who was the only one unharmed and raised her right arm up, her hand a closed fist and a growl escaping her lips.
I don't know what happened next but I was standing behind Aye and gently grabbed her arm. She froze and looked at me. During this, she had somehow slipped her sunglasses back on.
She met my eyes and her teeth started to shrink.
"Come on, Aye. You've done enough."
Aye stared at me for a little longer before nodding her head. She got up and I grabbed her hand and led her to the exit, keenly aware that everyone was staring at us as we went.
