I woke up and stretched my limbs before yawning. I noticed right away that Mye was gone. My eyes flickered to a pink thing with words on it. After reading it and thinking it over I decided to let my Mye go for now. In my opioid, a little freedom is good for ya.
I noticed some more words on the back of the paper. I looked it over and smiled sweetly at what was there.
"I decided to give you a nickname. Hope you don't mind, Aye. Still from Karma Mye Destin."
I let out a purring noise before realizing that I had no real good idea what hope meant. Nor what a nickname was.
I pondered about it until I decided that it must mean a shorter and cuter version of someone's normal name. With that realization came the sweet smell of prey and the metal one that followed it. I jumped up on the roof and angled myself to be hidden from my prey's view.
They entered like normal. This time, however, the metal shape entered the room as well. The metal shape was holding something familiar. Whatever it was I felt myself shiver slightly, something foreign to me. I feel fine so why did I shiver?
"D-2341, your contract has come into fruition. Please repair the glass."
I paused, confused on why the Light was speaking to this food. Maybe they weren't food? Well in that case I guess I can wait a bit. Though I am curious as to what they are doing.
Hmmm? Why is the shape holding up a glowing blue stick at the broken Light wall? Hmm!? Wha-!?!?!?!? Where Did That Piece Of The Light Come From!?
MAGIC! It Must Be Magic!
The magic-wielding shape fixed the Light's wall, making it look like it was never broken in the first place. Not caring if the Light doesn't want me to approach the magic shape I jumped down from the ceiling and walked right up to the shape. He turned and saw me and let out a scream, falling down and crawling backward away from me until he hit the Light's wall. That tasty scent was coming off him, making me smile and tense up.
I walked closer to him before sniffing the magic shape. He let out a weird noise that was kinda high pitched. I just couldn't see how someone like him can use magic. How? He seems so...weak. Weaker than a piece of bone. Yet this shape can use such a great and sparkly thing!? Rubbish! Rubbish, I say!
"Teach me how to do magic."
The shape screamed when I spoke to him before pausing and looking at me with a funny look.
"What's that look supposed to mean? I am asking ya to teach me how to do what ya just did. Magic."
I pointed my tail at the Light's wall where the hole used to be, trying to get what I was saying through.
"M-mmm-m-magic!? W-w-Wha-"
For some strange reason, this shape was really starting to annoy me. I let out a growl before snapping a few inches in front of his face, my teeth making a clicking sound as they destroyed everything that they hit. Luckily I held back. A couple of days ago I was seeing how strong I could get that tasty scent from a shape and snapped my teeth in front of them. I accidentally bit through what the Light calls atoms and matter. Whatever they were called it caused an explosion in my mouth which was near my prey. The prey died and I felt bad in my mouth for a while. Ever since I held back on my biting.
"MAGIC! TEACH ME HOW YOU USED MAGIC TO FIX THE LIGHT! TEACH ME MAGIC SHAPE!"
"A-Alright! I'll give you my de-my wand! I don't know how to teach you magic but this might. Just please don't eat me!"
Why do I smell liquid coming from his lower body parts? Well, whatever.
I took the metal and blue wand from his hand before jumping back next to the broken restraintment chair. I started examining the wand but stopped when I noticed the shape still there, watching me.
"So, do ya want to play with me?"
The shape let out a scream and ran out of my room. After a bit, the metal shape followed him and the food door closed behind it. I couldn't help but feel a bit bad. I had wanted to test my magic on the shape. Maybe make it a non-moving shape and use magic on it then to see if I get different results. Or maybe play something that doesn't include magic. But I most definitely wasn't going to eat him. The Light must not want me to.
"Though I do wonder if I made him a non-moving shape, would he be like the metal shape if I left him alone long enough?"
"Probably not."
Having answered my own question I settled down to sleep until the prey was sent in or something interesting happened.
….
I gathered my courage before opening the door that led into Zenar 24's room...or should I now call her Ava Kalesidia.
I found it odd that this Zenar looked awfully familiar when I first saw her. After the incident with the Duke's daughter, Ava revealed her name, something no Zenar has done before. And her name, Ava Kalesidia, was exactly the same as the President's dead daughter.
The similarities don't end with just her name though. Her hair, though now not kept, was exactly like Ava. The clothes she wore when she died are exactly the same. Even her personality is like the President's daughter. But I checked where Ava's body was and it was still there. There was no sign of any tampering with the case she was in, and since Zenar Splicers can bring back dead bodies or near dead people and turn them into Zenars if Ava was infected, her body would be gone. Yet it is not.
Is it possible that the Zenars have gained another evaluation and that is why this Zenar is not only different but also a duplicate of Ava? Or is it possible that he….
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts, before opening my eyes and stepping into Zenar 24's room. As expected she was wide awake. I shuddered at her eyes. I couldn't help it. I have seen many Zenars and looked into the horrible glare of their gaze but for this one, I couldn't help but feel powerless, like I am in front of something akin to a God, or even above one. There was no sympathy, friendly, warmth, or anything close to being at least kind in her gaze. It was just curious...curious and hungry. But there was also something else, a yearning and a childish gaze. If I hadn't run so many tests I would say she saw me as a mentor figure. But that was far from the truth. She sees me as a toy, something interesting and new.
That is what sets her apart from every single Zenar. Not even the Alpha's or the Queen's look at people like that. This Zenar lacked humanity but had a mind like a human. She was beyond dangerous. When someone mentioned giving her a proper education I shot down the idea instantly. If she ever grew to have an IQ of an adult…Nothing could stop her. She would have a human's ambition and be a Zenar. Nothing would stop her from her conquest of the world. That is why, despite showing signs that she is much deadlier than a normal Zenar, that she has the mind of a child and a very small ego.
If I had to say that if anything posed a problem other than her boredom, it must be the Duke and his daughter.
When I first got the call that Mye Destin had entered Zenar 24's room I thought for sure she would be killed. Imagine my surprise when I saw them both hanging out. The Duke was there too, muttering about something. There were also glass shards and a big hole in the observation window as well as one of my colleague's corpses, their head missing and blood splattered everywhere. When I heard what happened I was shocked and scared.
There hadn't even been the tiniest of bone shards or brain matter. Ava crushed everything.
But I realized what this all meant. Ava didn't have to say it. When the Duke glared at her and Mye when Mye was asleep, Ava woke up and stood over Mye, her tail curling around her and making a pose like a cobra, the tip opening up like a mouth.
It is a mouth!
I realized that after sharp fangs slid out of the black mouth. It looked more like a liquid than a solid mass. Ava glared right at Duke until he backed down, shaking uncontrollably with fear and anger. It was clear right there and then that Mye was Ava's. If anything were to happen to her without Ava's permission….
No Zenar has ever broken through the observation window before without at least twenty minutes of trying to just crack it. Yet Ava, in less than a second, broke through the glass. This room is the most secure and reinforced room that we have. Not even the President's escape room was as tough as this. Yet Ava effortlessly broke through the glass like it was nothing.
Now I know the idle threats she makes about killing us if we don't entertain her aren't idle. Even before when she was wowed by a repair tool our death row mechanic uses and demanded that he teach her magic and didn't eat him, I was one hundred percent certain that when she says non-moving shape she means dead.
She once tortured a death row, making comments about her little research project as she did so. Turns out she smells fear, and it excites her like sugar to a child. She was probably going to do the same to the mechanic if he agreed to play. And the worst part is that in both cases, she looked like she did something good, something worthy of praise. I'm not even sure that if she comes across a child that she would just kill them instead of turning them as normal Zenars do.
Either way, today I am going to interview her and get some answers on her identity and just how much should we fear her. May God have mercy on me...because one slip up means death.
