Days went by smoothly for Jasmine as she went back to her life. Arya would be there with her occasionally reminding her that she had a friend. There was some additional spice to her life though which came in form of a certain gorgeous devil; Lorenzo.
He had been bombarding her phone with messages which she had tried to ignore but failed miserably. This was not only because she had a massive crush on him, but also due to the fact that he was her first crush, friend and childhood sweetheart.
She had recalled her past the moment he touched her in the kitchen. He was the guy who used to wait for her at the park just to show her his new toys. While she was the shy and quiet type, he had been the out going social butterfly.
They had enjoyed playing around with little insects to flying kites. They had enjoyed having sweets and ice cream together feeling contented in each others company. As young as he was, Little Lorenzo had been very possessive of her and forbid her from having other friends.
Unfortunately, her parents passed away not long after they found each other. She ended up in an orphanage not knowing what became of her parents wealth. The separation was quiet severe for her but she was a helpless child who had no say in what happened in her life.
Now, meeting him again in the university was like a wish come true. The only problem was , however, the huge difference between them. Their social status was too different increasing the gap between them.
His preferences were too spicy for her to stomach and hers were extra bland for him to chew. What kept her wondering was why the university prince had been flirting with her. She admits, she was beautiful without trying. The gap though. She shook her head finally feeling irritated by the ringing phone.
She blocked the call and angrily typed a reply to the irritating man. Lorenzo who was having too much fun playing cat and mouse with jasmine smirked looking at his phone. " I am too good for you to resist baby. Cant wait to swallow you alive." He chuckled putting his phone down.
He had forgotten that he had company at that very moment. Arya was sending daggers his way while the boys were busy trying to hide their guffaws. " Dude, you sound like you just won the lottery, what's up? The bait caught a fish?" Asked Ty winking playfully.
" Exactly. My consistent annoying self just landed a date with the Ginger head. You know , I thought she would resist longer but guess what, she is just another cheapo! What a waste." You know that she is not, argued his brain.
Arya's silent complaint was soothed after what Lorenzo had just said. " I hope you will tell us about your date when you are done. You have been too slow with this one. I am beginning to doubt if you are still the number one magnet in this school. You got a reputation to maintain. Don't forget that."
I cant wait to see you hurt in the process of hurting her. You can try to hide your true feelings from the rest but not from me. Since you don't see me as more than a friend, well, I get to watch a fool hurt another fool. She thought.
The date was arranged for the same day past 6.pm. Lorenzo offered to pick Jasmine up from her apartment which she agreed to. Like every other day, the girl wore a comfortable sweat pant, a black t- shirt. Her hair was tied into a neat bun which highlighted her facial features.
Jasmine wore sneakers and a jumper. Her black back pack hung from her left hand. Lorenzo was stunned for a moment after seeing her look. Then he burst into an uncontrollable laughter holding his stomach. He had thought that the girl would dress up for once since she was going on a date with the hottest guy in school.
He never in his wildest dream imagined a girl would feel secure and comfortable in simple sweat pant, a t shirt, sneakers and a jumper. He was proven extremely wrong. Jasmine stood at the door watching the man laugh. For a minute, just a minute, she felt uncomfortable.
It didn't take her long to go back to her look of nonchalance. He stopped laughing and walked toward her with a smile on his lips." Am sorry about that. You just surprised me." This was the first time he apologized sincerely.
The glint in his eyes did not fade though.
"It's cool. Shall we go?"
"Please. After you."
Jasmine walked towards the car and stopped in her track. "Can we walk around? I like walking. I prefer it to driving."
"Sure ," he answered the surprise evident in his voice.
He locked his car and followed her. They walked side to side for some time each lost in their own thought.
" I am sorry that I haven't planned anything specific for the date. What would you like to do on our first date?" Jasmine looked at the man and thought, You don't have to think when you are with someone you like nor do you have to plan to have fun.
"I like unplanned things. They are more adventurous and fun. We wont have a restriction as to what to do. Why don't we just walk around and get to know each other. The weather is good today. It has a warm feel to it."
Lorenzo nodded unsure. He was used to planning everything before a date. From the little details to the end. This was new to him. Every thing he had encountered with jasmine today was new but a welcome change. He enjoyed the stall with her. He was used to driving but walking made him feel free.
With his friends, he had always been on guard either to please them or feed their ego. This was the first time he had the opportunity to be himself around someone. He was comfortable and calm. All the tension that he normally had faded into thin air.
Jasmine would occasionally direct him towards stalls that sold junk street foods. Apparently she liked eating street food. She would pout to make him try thing which he gladly did. The date turned out to be more fun than he had anticipated. It was simple yet interesting. In the process, he learned to enjoy the simple things in life.
Every thing that jasmine did reminded him of his childhood friend. Whenever that thought made itself known, however, he would immediately dismiss it. It was just a coincidence. What he could not dismiss was the warmth he felt during the date. He liked the uniqueness she offered.
From how carefree she dressed to our freely she ate without worrying about his thoughts. She was simply being real with him. Something he was not doing with her. As the night progressed, his guilt increased.
The date came to an end sometime before midnight. He escorted her to her house and stood at the door. " May I ask two questions before I bid you good night? " she nodded. " Why of all the clothes did you choose to dress the same way you always did? And would you go on a date with me again?"
Jasmine chuckled before answering his questions." I believe that whoever should love me , should do so for who I really am. I don't want to hide my flaws in expensive clothes and make up. I like to showcase them. That will help whoever wants me to do so for what they see. Something real. I don't like fake things.
I am not saying that those who put on make up and branded clothes are fact. I am just saying that, I prefer being without those. As for your second question, since you have been such a good company, I don't mind going on a date with you. On one condition. Let me choose the place and time. "
Lorenzo agreed without second dates. He had enjoyed this date and was looking forward to more of such dates. He walked closer to her and pecked her cheeks before leaving. I hope to have more of those with you. He thought driving off towards the center of the city where he dwelt.
