Chapter 10 - Seeing Something I Shouldn't Have

He cocked his head as he stared at her for a few seconds before saying, "You are not right in the head, but I guess I can deal with that, babe."

What?

Xiu Rong anticipated shock with the hint of interest and awe in his countenance after she told her greatest skill, but…what?

The god looked bored, as if he didn't give a damn about it.

She didn't understand why the god didn't find her skills good enough.

He was now squatting on the floor with her while she sat properly in front of him, paying her respect to the strange god, but it appeared like the respect wasn't reciprocated.

"I'm not a newborn babe!"

He had blatantly brushed her off by adding in a husky tone, "I can do whatever you want after you do mine."

The man/god ignored the one good skill she took pride in, and she took offense!

"I don't like where this is going." She said out loud, and the man raised an eyebrow in question.

Why wasn't he amazed at her skill of cursing his enemies?

It's not every day someone can meet a person like her who can annihilate one's enemies with just a preserved corpse of a creature!

Wasn't that what people needed these days—-someone who can eliminate the people who gave them a hard time in this world.

She might have killed the Emperor—her master—in the end, but Xiu Rong knew the old man valued her at least.

Her hands fisted on her skirts as she squinted into the god's brown eyes so dark she could probably swim in there for eternity.

Drowning was the least of her worries!

She was expecting a round of applause for her pure talent but didn't even get one clap!

Xiu Rong went as far as thinking that this was the purpose why the god brought her into his home—his heaven—to ask for celestial favors.

It must be because he would save her soul after killing the Emperor if she did what he wanted.

"I don't know where on earth the Crown Prince's Ancestral Spirit brought me, but it felt like you are my key to get back to my own world." Xiu Rong told her. Then in a quiet voice, she continued, " —as bleak as it may sound, I think you were the only one who could help me through this."

"Maybe, the Ancestral Spirit sent me here because there is something I must do that involved you so that I can return."

Xiu Rong was fired up now, her heart burning with fiery resolve as she pulled the god's hand and squeezed it.

She would do whatever the man wanted with her.

Not only will he save her soul, but he also promised money if she could pull it off.

Xiu Rong pursed her lips in concentration as she noted his ruffled and messy dark hair since he kept on running his fingers through it in frustration.

She had no idea of the value of ten thousand dollars in this domain, but she can figure that out later.

The man pulled his fingers away from her grasp, and Xiu Rong bit her cheek in disappointment.

"I didn't understand what you are trying to tell me, babe, but I'm also a hundred percent sure that you don't understand me either, even if we are speaking the same language." The god caressed her face, and her scowl shifted into something softer and slowly blinked. "You are not responding well with whatever I say to you that I'm starting to doubt if you are from a foreign country Jian Yu's mafia kidnapped, but I'm going to verify your identity later."

Xiu Rong didn't pull away from his hand even if his presence still scared her a little.

Her rigid muscles loosened as he basked in his gentle touches.

This was the first time another person stroked the skin of her cheek.

She was used to wearing a deer skull mask all her life.

"I just can't understand." Xiu Rong's gaze scanned his face for a long minute— her eyes moving back and forth from his eyes to his lips--not because they were the prettiest feature of his devilishly handsome features.

For some reason, this god appeared familiar, and she didn't want to remember.

Xiu Rong wasn't sure if she was hallucinating, but it felt like… she had killed someone with that face before.

Her shoulders curled forward, making her chest cave in dread.

Xiu Rong didn't know.

She had killed so many people that she lost count on what they looked like.

She could feel cold sweat trickling down her back as Xiu Rong clutched her chest.

Perhaps, it was a fake memory implanted in her head right now due to paranoia.

She nodded in agreement. Who else would reassure her if it wasn't her?

But if this was someone she killed in her previous life—

Then the Crown Prince's Ancestral Spirit sent her into this world to make her pay for the price of the sins she had committed.

Her hands trembled in fear.

Xiu Rong immediately avoided eye contact and withdrew, but the man's hand was on her chin again and forced her to glance up at him.

'This man!' Breathing hard, she stared at the spot behind his head.

'Xiu Rong will never forget his face.'

He must be her divine retribution—her karma.

The god gave her a mischievous smirk. "I think you can easily adjust to me."

This man in a strange outfit of black and white…

Xiu Rong knew the man couldn't belong on Earth because that clothing wouldn't fit anywhere in China, so he must be a god.

As if everything was happening in slow motion, the man's hand dropped lower to loosen the brown leather belt on his pants and began taking off the one that appeared like a short-fitting cloak.

He abruptly pulled the white silk shirt underneath—

Screaming her head off, Xiu Rong covered her eyes and turned her body sideways, but it was too late.

She already saw.

Xiu Rong saw his chiseled stomach when he lifted his shirt by accident.
