"So how was your day?" Darian asked, going around to steal his daily dose of petting Jaxon's hair.
Smiling, Jaxon recounted his activities after they left for their meeting, it wasn't a lot, mostly him cozying up to read his book and eat fruits.
But Darian was always so attentive and interested that it was easy to talk for hours.
"...rian? Darian?" He called out when he noticed that the other was out of it. "Are you good?" He asked with bleeding concern, looking him over thoroughly.
Darian blinked out of his thoughts, staring into Jaxon's eyes which seemed to pull him in.
"Yeah, just got distracted, sorry." He mumbled, rubbing a hand over his face.
"It's fine, do you want to take a nap?" He suggested, looking pleased with the idea of being the one doing the worrying.
That was the last thing Darian wanted to do, he didn't want to be so far away from Jaxon just moments after he got back.
One look at Leon who looked too stiff to be asleep made up his mind for him though.
"Actually, you know what? Maybe that's just what I need." He accepted grudgingly, getting up to steal another kiss.
Jaxon had a smug look on his face, lifting up his lips for another kiss. "I told you so."
Darian's lips quirked just the littlest bit. "Yes, you did, wake me before dinner, okay?"
"Okay!" Jaxon mimicked, happy to take care of Darian in whatever little way was permitted.
He was rest assured that Leon was already asleep so he just went back to reading.
Leon was wide awake and thrust into further confusion, he hoped that Darian hadn't been serious when he said he was having a small talk with Ethan.
As a matter of fact, the entire situation was just ridiculous. It irritated him how he kept making a big deal out of it when he could just confront Darian about his odd behavior.
But the most obvious answers were never the easiest.
Jaxon lifted his head after a long while of reading, he was almost done with the book he was reading which made him giddy.
It was just the first day and he was already ticking off things on his to-do list for this pseudo-vacation.
Dinner was coming up soon so they should be getting ready but he rather liked clingy Leon falling asleep on him, even with his multiple piercings, he managed to look adorable while sleeping.
He didn't want to wake Leon up so he just quietly went back to reading.
Leon was the one to stir, waking up slowly. He lifted his head from where he had settled in the crook of Jaxon's neck and his lips tilted to the side, sleepy eyes fixed on him. "Hey."
Jaxon bit his lip to stop himself from doing something mortifying, averting his eyes and hoping his face didn't betray him this once and remained pale.
That was too much to ask for apparently.
Leon was quick to get off him, he had already spent the past couple hours using him as a cushion. If anything happened to Jaxon, Darian would gut him, right after he gutted himself.
Jaxon recovered quickly, leaning over to kiss Leon's cheek. "I didn't expect you to wake up but now that you are, mind waking up Darian so that we can prepare to go down to dinner, thanks." He said quickly, making his way to the kitchen with the now empty fruit bowl to clean up.
Leon froze up at his request, watching him leave the room in horror. He would be forced to be alone in the same room with Darian, something he hoped desperately wouldn't happen for at least a couple more days.
When he could successfully pretend that everything was fine and perfect.
The matter wasn't Leon genuinely getting pissed off at him but the implications of what Darian had done. Telling himself that he was just overthinking didn't help one bit.
Besides, that was exactly why he had gotten irritated, he had gotten no explanation for Darian's strange behaviour and it worried him for no reason.
He couldn't avoid him forever though, they literally were stuck together.
Pushing himself off the couch, he started for their shared bedroom, he didn't even think he remembered what his own bedroom looked like.
He stepped into the bedroom to find Darian curled around one of the many pillows on the bed, his intimidating form hunched over in a way that made him seem like an overgrown puppy.
He couldn't just keep standing here though, that wasn't what he came here to do but he couldn't get his legs to move.
Today had just been an unsatisfactory day in general, actually, wait, it only went downhill when he was alone with Darian.
"Did you walk in just to stare at me?" Darian finally spoke, breaking the stretched silence.
"What?!" Leon exclaimed, startled. "No... I-"
Jaxon came in to this chaotic scene with a beaming smile. "I see you've woken Darian up-"
"Yeah if you're talking about staring me awake." Darian muttered dryly, throwing his legs over the side of the bed.
Jaxon blinked in confusion at this. "What?"
"Ignore him." Leon rolled his eyes. "I was just lost in thought."
"Sure." Darian balanced his arms on his thighs. "While staring at my ass." he added with a straight face.
Jaxon's eyes slowly grew so round, his mouth falling open while Leon straight up choked.
"What?" He exclaimed this time, curiosity shining in his hazel eyes.
"Don't we have a dinner to prepare for?" Leon reminded, unimpressed with their teasing.
"You're no fun." Jaxon grumbled, making his way into the bathroom to freshen up for dinner.
Leo followed right after him, for multiple reasons.
"Chicken." He heard Darian's amused voice drift behind him, he easily ignored the taunt even though it made him so irritated that he was pretty sure his eyes flashed silver for a couple seconds.
Darian pushed both of his hands through the short strands of his hair, what the fuck was he doing courting danger?
He was basically inviting Leon to unalive him by teasing him, when the fuck did he even start doing that? Did he bump his head while fighting Chase?
Beyond that, when did plain teasing start becoming so layered? He should have just remained under the radar, instead of starting off a chain of events such as this one.
