Paisley woke up and it was still dark outside. She looked at the clock on her wall and saw that it was just 4 in the morning. She got up and got her things to shower. Once she finished showering, she went down and looked for her Aunt in the hope of helping her.
"Aunt Carline, can I help you with something?" She softly asked when she saw her in their kitchen.
"Oh yes, dear. Can you pass me that flour?" She asked with a smile while she was busy kneading.
She grabbed the flour and passed it on to her Aunt.
"Aunty, did Vince got home yesterday night safely?" She asked as she watches her Aunt bake.
"I didn't notice him since maybe we were already asleep when he came in. Would you mind checking him to his room, please?"
Paisley nodded and went back up to check Vince in his room. She opened the room right next to her and peeked if her cousin was already home and he was. He was sleeping soundly and snoring like a pig although he looks quite the opposite of a pig. He was well-built maybe from all of the work he was putting himself in and was quite good-looking too.
Paisley then walked backed down to her Aunt to inform her that Vince was home and sleeping soundly. Since her Aunt was busy baking and everyone else is asleep, Paisley decided that she should cook breakfast for them.
Paisley was quite well aware of how things work in a kitchen. She was the one making their food back then anyway so it was not a big thing for her. She started cooking the rice and it was quite easy because at least they had a rice cooker with them. Must be something that her mother sent her Aunt whenever she doesn't like an item anymore.
Then she started frying some eggs and some eggplant that they had left. It was the only thing inside the small refrigerator that they owned. When she was done, she started making the table. Placed some of the plates and utensils on it and checked if the rice was cooked already. When it looked like it was, she tasted a little bit of it and placed it on a plate.
When she was done, her Aunt thanked her and she just smiled telling her it was nothing big. She also went up to wake her cousin up since they had school together. Vince was the same age as she was and only worked as a construction worker during summer or school breaks. But in his daily life, he was still a part-timer in the small diner every night.
When they were done eating Paisley went back to her room to change into her uniform while Vince was taking a bath. She looked in the mirror and once again, anxiety crept inside of her.
