I picked my phone and looked at my watched several times. Shaking my left leg as my hand supports my chin. "You alright?" I took a glance at her and straightened my body. It's been an hour since we waiting for the host to come out of that car. Fortunately, I bring my mosquito repellent.
Two black Escalades with black tint windows parked in front of me for an hour long. One of the car carrying someone. She's the reason we're stuck in this empty field. So this is feel when death is already in front of you? I watched several cartel related movies and TV series, but I never feel this rush inside my blood. "Babe, are you alright?" She lowering her voice as a woman approaching us followed her bodyguard.
She's wearing a chess checkered shirt, ripped jeans, and white low-top shoes. "Lobak, how are you, mate?!" She hugged me and tapped my back several times and exhale. "So… who's the chick behind you? I thought you get back to your ex." She's looking at behind me.
Rose wringing her hands. "Alexa!? D-do you remember me?" Alexa furrowed her brow as she tried to remember. Okay, this is awkward.
I pulled her closer, put my hand around her waist. "She's Rose, my fiance."
Alexa widen her eyes and gasped. "Oh my God, Rosemary!? My… sister's ex-best friend!?" Yeah, you can call her that.
I took a deep breath and exhale. It's a pleasure to meet you too, ex-client. I cleared my throat, squeezed her shoulder. "We want to meet your sister." I'm looking at Rose. She was wringing her hand and bite her lips.
I know how it feels. Rose doesn't dare to stare or even look into her eyes. She is the step-daughter of the dangerous cartel in the world. "Please," Rose hold her hand. "We're here…" A woman get out of the car and walking with her boots.
My heart beating fast as she takes a step approaching us. I hold my breath, then exhale. This is it. I don't care about the result, at least we're here not doing an illegal transaction. "I already told you, I don't want to see your face anymore!" A woman approached us. So, this is Jenny Escobar herself? She looks like a model rather than a cartel leader. I'm looking at my back and looking at my future wife.
"I-I know but…" She seems need some help.
I hold her hand and stared at her. I raised my left hand and put the invitation on the ground, pushed to her feet. "Rose is my fiancé now. She wants you to become her bridesmaid." Her sister picked the invitation and glancing at us. She holds my hand tight and bites her lips.
I know it's been years for them, and I don't think she will come. "Babe…" I hummed. Oh, here… darling. I put my hand surround her waist and pulled her closer. She hides her face on my shoulder. "I…"
"Everything will be alright, okay? Let me discuss it with her." She looking into my eyes. I wiped her tears, then kissed her eyes. "Just… let me handle this for you." She nodding her head. Jenny walked towards her sister and snatched the invitation.
"Where's that person!?" she asked.
"Jail." All eyes looked at me. "He came to my house a year ago, and she doesn't want met him." She cleared her throat and put back the invitation on the table.
"I can come to your wedding, but I can't forget what both of you did to me!" She took a deep breath. "Both of you betrayed me, how—"
I'm sick of this situation. I cleared my throat and looking at my watch. "The past is the past. I know my fiancé… betrayed you, but have you ever thinking to forgive her?" She clenched her jaw. She needs to be enlightened. I let go of my hand on her waist, walking towards her.
"Do you think… I never experiencing betrayal?" I'm looking into her eyes. I squeezed her shoulders, but her step-sister hold my hand, glared at me. "Have you ever trying to reconnect the bridge between you two? 'Cause she one betrayed, but seems you the one who betrayed her."
She slapped my face. I heard Rose gasped. "Watch your mouth!" I touched y cheek and smirked. No one dare slapped my face beside of my fiancé.
"It's… better you should go." I put my business card on the top of the invitation and walked away to our car. Maybe we will stay for a while in Jakarta.

I wrapped her waist with my hands, put my chin on her shoulder, and kissed her cheek. "You can't sleep?" She turns her body, put her hands on my shoulders. We stared as the night breeze blows.
I pulled closer. I brushed her hair as she touched my cheek. She touches it like it's easy to break, like a glass. "Is that hurt?" She asked.
I shook my head. Her slap was nothing rather than you. "Don't overthink about it. Maybe she needs time to process." Tonight the sky seems bright, the star as if they are watching, and her mom isn't here. I took a deep breath and let go of my hug.
I should keep her innocence until the day. I put my jacket on her shoulders and embrace her from the back. "Kwang In hasn't woken up, Sarah gone insane, and… everything is a mess!" Preparing event for once in the lifetime sometimes drained our mental energy.
"I want to introduce you to my biological brother tomorrow." She looks at me. "He's in this city." I said. Besides, we should look for a photo studio, catering, and… fly to Aceh.
She turns her body and put her hand on my shoulder. "
She played my finger, "Give me an X and O, please!" Roger that! I kissed her cheek and embrace her tight. Tonight the sky seems bright. It's perfect for us having a moment together while the city sleeps. Where no one looked at us with a disgust look, judge us, and even discriminate us.
Just her, me, and nature. I'm looking into her eyes. "Shed your tears. I'm here with you. Ride or die, okay?" She nodding her head. I brushed off her hair and smile. Let me love you till I die.
My feeling towards the woman in front of me never change. I don't know what about the future. Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, and today is present. "Let me love you…" I hold her hand, kissed her finger. It's a cliche, right?
I'm eaten by my words two years ago. Someone in the YouTube comment was right. Move on, there's a lot of journeys awaits me. I hope God sends him my blessing and thanks you. Life is not like a highway, sometimes it's like rocky mountains, wave in the sea, and sandstorms in the middle-eastern desert.
She rests her head upon my chest, closes her eyes. "Let's get inside." She shook her head. I'm standing still as I'm looking at other people on their house roof. At least, it's a unique experience I've got so far.
