When a beast is born, the Ego of Magic manifests a Core in the creature because it does not have an inherently transmitted objective to live for. The first few hours of cluelessness was enough for this permanent brand to take effect.
Humans, elves, dwarves and zoomorphs on the other hand have been fighting against Fiends and waging wars at each other since their advent. They have a firm reason to live and survive and this consciousness overwrites the efforts of Ego. Also, they are heavily dependent on magic which makes them an indirect slave to the Ego in the end.
