Nodding in understanding, Adam bit his finger and drops of blood fell over the sphere. Unlike his expectations, the blood didn't ooze over the surface but went through the material.
For Adam, this was within his predictions but not up to the expectation. He was hoping the sphere to lit up like a fireball but its colour simply turned green after a momentary transition from yellowish red.
Therefore, he wasn't surprised.
The chief closely inspected the sphere with knit brows for almost a minute before it reverted to normal. Passing it back to the guard, the village head turned to Adam. "You have a destination?".
Adam took a moment to think. "Not exactly. I'm just travelling northwards."
"For the night, you may stay in the inn. But you must depart from the village before tomorrow noon." There was a certain authoritative aura to the old man's words and Adam didn't refute.
