~Chapter 40~
Mae and Baas had begun the long run northeast from Desauhtung to Saldestung. It was a four-hour venture, requiring them to pass around two more of the flat top mountains before the village would come into view. However, after near two full hours of running, and making the halfway mark, the suns had nearly set and continuing on, once it got dark, would be impossible.
A short distance further up the road, they came across a river with a swing bridge passing over it.
"We'll camp upstream for the night," Baas told her as they crossed the bridge and headed down into the forest of tall, slender trees of vibrant green.
